United States vs. Vietnam Highlights | 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup

The United States and Vietnam began their World Cup Campaign within Group E! The United States were constantly providing Vietnam problems early, and their efforts were rewarded with Sophia Smith’s clinical finish in the 14th minute. The United States continued to get countless opportunities in the first half, but Vietnam’s Thi Kim Thanh Tran came up HUGE. Highlighted by a penalty save off of Alex Morgan, Vietnam continued to keep it close with the United States. However, a late goal from Sophia Smith gave the United States a 2-0 lead going into the half. Heading into the second half, the United States were able to get more changes and got their third goal from Lindsey Horan and went on to win 3-0.

  1. American Caucasian man here. My Chinese wife and I will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary in September. For beauty the Vietnamese are the winners! Ha, ha!

  2. USWNT looking very convincingly like the team they once were before in 2019. However, they did not look sharp in front of goal since there was 3 or 4 shots that should have been put in the back of the net. Alex Morgan's penalty, Megan Rapinoe missed shot, Lindsey Horan over the corner bar missed goal that should have been with her head and not her right foot. Morgan chemistry the younger kids and the passing were amazing to look at. If they were sharp in this whole world cup, they could have advanced a tad further instead losing sadly in the Round of 16. 3. Ever since Vietnam-War, this is the first time, Vietnam Women Soccer is played on the biggest game over the world (especially against the old friend/ex-enemy country). To the Vietnamese, whatever the outcome, this is already a win to them. This will make the foundation for the next years to come.

  4. Can't get an easy slow shot on the face of the goal and they "demand equal pay". If they aren't getting equal pay, and they seem to be, they shouldn't be getting much for missing all those easy goals.

  5. Im sorry but the amount of wide open misses shows the lack of skill women have. Just not the same. Look how much time and space they have to kick the ball softly.
