If I recall correctly, the speeding up of the "RO" (row) would be done in preparation to "beach" the ship before the vikings would jump off the boat to do their raids, so It would only be fitting for the chant to speed up too since the national football team is supposed to be "raiding" goals in this FIFA tournament too.

Row row – I met a man from Scotland 44 years ago in the old Viking city of Tønsberg in Norway – and his wife. They where about 65 – 67 years old. He had been on the sea and met his coming wife as a young man – a blond Norwegian beauty – western in Norway. He falled in love. But he did not have the money to travel with a boat. So he rowed – not a a sailboat – a rowing boat. And after many dangers he married and then later moved to Norway. All rowing people – Unite. Do not make war – but row.
