The Empire State Building is lit up in FC Barcelona colours

On Wednesday night the most iconic sliver of the New York skyline was awash in blue and red, a monumental marker that FC Barcelona was now in town. At around 7.30pm ET, just as daylight ceded ground to the artificial sort that has made New York come to be known as The City That Never Sleeps, the Empire State Building, the 102-floor behemoth and everlasting symbol of American capitalism that lies at the heart of Manhattan Island, lit up with the colors of Futbol Club Barcelona.

The one-night show of the royal blue and maroon lighting high up on the exterior of the art deco edifice lasted until around 2.00am ET. The honor was bestowed upon the Club as a way of recognizing the work of the FC Barcelona Foundation and the 10th anniversary of its alliance with UNICEF, which coincided perfectly with Barça’s arrival in the Big Apple.

El Empire State, uno de los edificios más icónicos de Nueva York, enciende la parte superior de su fachada con los colores azulgrana y corona simbólicamente la llegada del Club a Estados Unidos. El encendido de las luces ha tenido lugar a las 19:30 de la tarde, cuando apenas ha empezado a oscurecer en la ciudad que nunca duerme. Los colores del Club se han mantenido en la fachada hasta las 02:00 horas. Han estado casi siete horas que sirven para reconocer al Club y a su Fundación la alianza con Unicef ​​en su décimo aniversario y para coronar de la mejor manera posible la llegada del Barça en Estados Unidos, amplificando la noticia de manera exponencial en el ámbito global con una imagen icónica.
Esta acción se ha completado con la visita al edificio de una delegación del Club encabezada por el vicepresidente primero Jordi Cardoner, que, desdel mismo del edificio, ha escenificado el momento del encendido junto con Ronaldinho y Paloma Escudero, la directora de comunicación de Unicef.
