  1. sadly we will never know the true level of modern day MLS until they start putting on international matches against teams from all over the world (not just south america).

there needs to be a GLOBAL tournament where teams from all over the planet face off against each other, not just european based teams…just my opinion though I don't think it will ever happen

  2. MLS is now a selling prospect league. But to make it to the top level, the owners have to start cutting checks to attract elite talent below the age of 30.

  3. MLS is on the right path in giving opportunities to young Players, especially 16-23 years old, whether for football like the NCCA is for Basketball and you will have infinite talent, that's what we still have USL, USL1, CPL and MLS next Pro

  4. MLS need to fix their TV network. Nothing on TV right now because of the whole covid. Force ESPN and fox to put MLS on primetime. Not five games at the end of the season. You have the summer put more games because there's nothing to watch on TV and you can do it

  5. Spot on! A lot of players go to Serie A at over 30, and no one bats an eye; if they were to come to the MLS at even 29/30, everyone loses their mind and calls it the start of their retirement.

  6. For top end players MLS is a retirement league. It does not compete in quality and competitiveness, for example, even with the Mexican and most of the South American Leagues. There is no reason to think why would a great player in Europe move to MLS except for its ending days. Even Beckham, that did great on MLS, by MLS standards at that time, was far from what he did on his prime in Europe.

  7. Mls went from a retirement league to a stepping stone for young talented players to get their career started and later transferred to bigger clubs. Mls is really growing rapidly and there’s no denying that.

  8. It’s not a retirement league. It’s just a really shitty one that is corrupt and completely goes away from what tradition football is suppose to be. Plus they call it Soccer

  9. No one will take MLS seriously whilst it's basically designed to be flat. There's no peril, if you fail you just have to try again next season. If there was even one lower tier with slightly less money…the bosses would be more concerned and the fans would sure as hell not want their team taking the drop.

  10. MLS is more than that. The League helped grow players in MLS that made them stars/soon to be stars. Alphonso Davies, Sebastian Giovinco, Miguel Almiron, Tyler Adams, and Zack Steffan.

  11. I like this statement from Don Garber!! You think it's a simple thing as an iconic player elsewhere and think you'll just win it all when you come to the MLS, ask Zlatan? Ask Steven Gerrard, Ask Didier Drogba, ask David Villa, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo…. all of these greats, and they couldn't get it done even for their high skill level. Are their valid criticisms of the MLS sure, but any league has criticisms of their own. I love the MLS personally as much as I love other leagues in europe and around the world.

  12. lol you would only say it isn't because it totally is. no one in their prime years wants to play in a league without promotion/relegation

  13. Well if you had your way Garber, this league wouldn't have it's founding club in Columbus anymore and you'd just have all the teams play in LA, Vegas or whatever market you alone deem worthy whether or not there is fan support to begin with. If we want to keep growing for the better in this league we need a better commissioner than you.
