Manchester City tried to put up a fight, but were sentenced to their fate after a Bernardo Silva red card resulted in a penalty to Vini Jr. which set the second leg in motion. Alvaro Arbeloa’s side took control of the match, despite giving up a goal to Erling Haaland. Vini Jr. eventually scored what would be the winner in the 93rd minute, securing Real Madrid’s spot in the last 8.
