  1. Marvin and Todd are dead on right. The legends create the schools…the schools don't create the legends. Think Coach K, Bob Knight, John Wooden, Bowden, Osborne, Bear Bryant, Paterno. You'll get swallowed up at FLA, ALA, PSU, etc being compared to the legends.

  2. Why should Cig give a hoot about Penn State? He's building a program at IU. It has only begun. I think the school has the money to keep him happy, but do you think he's in it for the money?

  3. I guess you guys are unaware of IU President Pam Whitten and AD Scott Dolson. Indiana University has a massive commitment to winning a National Championship and they’ve made that clear since they hired Cignetti.

  4. Everyone brings up 4 and 5 star recruits. Cignetti literally said 4 days ago "I've never been into stars" Especially in this era where all 5 stars come with talent but only want the bigger money instead of the hard work and success.

Indiana is the ONLY P4 team to ever call Cig about a coaching job. That's all he wanted. And according to other people who know him, he is all about loyalty.

  5. Another clown show by Dan Patrick. He's not going anywhere. Find something else to talk about.
For as long as you've been in sports, you still dont get it.
Penn State days are over, no one wants to go there

  6. You are a dork…Indiana has plenty of Sugar Daddies and every bit as much money as PSU. Mark Cuban, Cook Medical, and plenty of others….second largest living alimni base in the WORLD…plenty of cash at IU..they just aren't wasting it. Plenty of their great business school grads with millions/billions. Cig ain't leaving for money..if he has other reasons..that is different.

  7. There's almost zero upside going there. IU is paying Cignetti the same amount Franklin's getting. Also it's sooo much cooler to build a program from the ground up yourself instead of just being another name at Penn State. If Cig is able win at natty in Bloomington they will name a stadium after him and put a giant statue of him right outside of it. Not to mention how coaching at IU is 100x less stressful than coaching at Penn. IU might have a rough season next year after losing some of their seniors, but no fan will be screaming to fire Cignetti like the way the fans screamed at Franklin for losing THREE games. These top schools have no loyalty at all because they're so spoiled–I kind of hope Penn State doesn't win a game for the next three years.

  8. That's an (intentionally) poorly worded question. Curt Cignetti has an 8 year contract. His services are already retained through 2032. The question is: Will Cignetti leave Indiana?

  9. Why would Cignetti leave IU for penn st. He has just built the foundation for a powerhouse, Why would he go to a place where the house is caving in and start all over !?! IU can and will match any offer penn st. offers him. He's going to go out as the best coach in the big ten when he retires and he's going to do it as a HOOSIER!

  10. Cignetti’s mistake would be to take the Penn State job. He would be more valuable and would likely make more money should he stay for two more years at IU and win a national championship. If he leaves IU all he is doing is putting off a big payday. Sometime finishing what you started is more valuable.

  11. Coach Cig is no Lane Kiffin job-hopper. Yea, as others have already said, they'll be a statue of him outside the stadium someday. And they might even rename a major street in Bloomington for him. Bloomington is a college town and college towns do that. IU is hungry for football success. Money is not the only motivator in life. Highly rated high school prospects are watching too. They want to go to winning programs. Success attracts success. Go Hoosiers!

  12. IU has just as much NIL $$ if not more then PSU and then I know for a fact that their assistant coaching salary's are 2nd in the Big Ten just behind Ohio State. Yes, even more then Penn St, Michigan, USC, Oregon and so on. He's got zero pressure at IU. He's 64. Makes just as much money personally. He isnt going anywhere

  13. I love Dan but saying IU does not have the booster money for football is not correct. Also, basketball is secondary to football right now in generating fan excitement at IU. If Cignetti does walks, it won't be because they can't pay him. There are plenty of Mark Cuban like IU donors/alum with extreme wealth that fly under the radar. IU has paid out many millions to terminate a long list of failed football and basketball coaches so paying Coach Cig would not be a problem as long as he remains successful and wants to stay there.

  14. Wrong Dan…IU can pay Cig as much or more than Penn State, & that is a Fact. His salary (& his assistants) was doubled after last year, & depending on where we go this year in the playoffs, he’ll be a top 5 paid coach in America at IU. Cig said in his opening speech at IU…I’ve NEVER taken a back seat to nobody, & I don’t plan on starting now! He’s going to bring a National championship to IU & there will be a statue of him at IU, & the field will be named after him. He said this offseason that he’s building IU into a powerhouse program, so why would he want to leave here. He’s not. If you know anything about Cig, then you know he’s not going anywhere.

  15. I think IU has actually some quite deep pockets, even by Big Ten standards. Their football program has been, historically, awful, but that was pre NIL. People's brains are slow to catch up, but with enough money IU can buy the same roster as OSU or any other blue blood now. For better and worse, things have changed.

  16. I hope and pray the Cig stays at IU. I think they will do whatever they have to, to retain him. He has forged a relationship with IU Supergrad Mark Cuban. I know they are both from PA, but hopefully he will want to keep building at IU.
