  1. Lads need to stop worrying about the pools for RWC.
Aus is not a top 6 team. Argentina deserves their 6 spot.
6-12 is a who cares of countries, it doesn't matter.
13 is the ONLY spot that countires want to avoid. That is Japan and Wales and Georgia (how do they get away with playing no games with Japan and Wales are getting smoked?)
Biggest games for ranking will be Japan v Wales and Japan v Georgia the week after.
If Japan or Wales finish at 13 that is a disaster.

    1-6 – First lottery band
    7-12 – Second lottery band
    etc.
So it would be possible for SA/Aus/Wales to be in one pool. But just as likely to be SA/Georgia/Chile

  2. SA red card — just how low do we have to tackle? De Jager is long committed before contact, he is 2.07m and he hit him probably 0.4m. De Jager has no history playing outside the rules. I am glad to find it is being questioned here.

  3. Just on Lood de Jager red card, look at the replay again…

Ramos jumps up and then drops down to his knees in a few seconds. Lood is already committed to the tackle and his body position is very low. Lood is 2.05 m tall so he is very low, his own knees are touching the ground. The ball hits Lood in this face making him turn his head away. Ramos blocks Lood's arm so he can't wrap, although his other arm is wrapping. It is clear in the replay. No mouth guard sensor went off no HIA performed. This should have been reviewed

  4. S.A. rugby is the benchmark period. Any other rugby country has the capable players. Getting up to their standard is doable. As an NZ supporter I wanna say that if Sititi , Holland , Savea and Jordan , Sacha , etc can do it any other player can. Too much reliance on individuals or individual brilliance or even the bench to get the job done. A lost while trying your best is better than losing as a habit.

  5. If you listen to Angus he didn't want to give a full red card, AR's put pressure on him. He kept saying that he was on the floor. For me it was a 20 min red card. If Ramos was upright nothing would have come from that.

  6. Siya vs Richie. You nailed it. Siya broader impact is unmatched. But looking purely at rugby. Non all black supporters saw Richie as the biggest pest in the game. That's gotta say something 😂. Not sure other teams hate Siya as much. Which is a complement to Richie.

  7. De Jager anticipates Ramos' trajectory and sets up to tackle mostly with his right shoulder.
As he gets low the ball hits him in the face, his eyes were thus closed.
He didn't have enough time to adjust for Ramos' change in direction and then the dipping as well.
Lastly, Ramos also fended of De Jager's left arm which leads to the awkward position and creates the impression he tucked.
The one angle mostly shown made it look worse than it was, especially in slowmo.
The other angles show it was just a normal tackle gone slightly wrong. Rugby incident.

  8. I just watched an analysis of that red card and as the french player started to lower his body, Lood had 0.4s to adjust. Basically it was impossible to adjust in that time frame and the ref should have used common sense. At worst that was a 20min red.
The assistant refs seemed to have had to much influence on his decision making which should never be the case.

  9. My problem with it being a full red card is that all the contributing factors were not taken into account, despite the numerous replays! Angus Gardener initially considered it an unfortunate incident until he was talked into a red card by the assistant refs. To my mind, several mitigating factors, apart from the height, contributed to the tackle. Firstly, if one really paid attention to the incident, it could be seen that the ball hit de Jager in the face just before the tackle, causing his head to swing away and possibly thereby causing his arm to drop, and secondly, if one looked at Ramos' arm as he fell, it knocked deJagers arm backwards. There was no clear analysis of the incident!!! Also, if it was a dangerous head injury, why wasn't Ramos sent off for an HIA? very strange for a so-called head collision????

  10. James Parsons extremely astute, calm and level headed in that red card analysis. Spot on – it was at least worth a review -arm is straight -could still wrap, it wasnt bent inward, not malicious when you're that low.

Bryn you cant just say "expect trouble when your arm is straight like that.." Mate you see how LOW he is in the tackle?

Bryn was absolutely dismissive of context and reactive – exactly what we dont need in officiating and analysis.

  11. Hey guys, love the pod but think it might be time to inject a new face who isn’t a former player to enable a bit more of a critical view on certain performances. For example, Leicester Fainga’anuku missed SEVEN tackles against Scotland but is getting talked up for his defence!

  12. My personal squad:
    1. Ethan de Groot
    2. Codie Taylor
    3. Fletcher Newell
    4. Scott Barrett
    5. Fabian Holland
    6. Wallace Sititi
    7. Ardie Savea
    8. Peter Lakai
    9. Cam Roigard
    10. Beauden Barrett
    11. Leicester Fainga'anuku
    12. Quinn Tupaea
    13. Billy Proctor
    14. Leroy Carter
    15. Will Jordan
    16. Samisoni Taukei'aho
    17. Tamaiti Williams
    18. Pasilio Tosi
    19. Josh Lord
    20. Simon Parker
    21. DuPlessis Kirifi
    22. Rieko Ioane
    23. Damian Mckenzie

    Honorable mention:
    11. Carter
    12. Fainga'anuku
    13. Tupaea
    14. Love
    15. Jordan

  13. Siya Kolisi is not fit enough to fart in the same hemisphere as the GOAT. Great player but you're kidding yourself if he's in the same conversation. If you want to talk about off the field, according to his ex-wife, Kolisi is a POS.
