Why Most Players Train Wrong (7mlc Explains What Actually Works)

@7mlc aka Michael Cunningham, joins Jimmy on the Coerver Coaching Podcast to break down why most players train a lot but don’t actually improve!

In this episode, Michael explains why foundations like ball mastery, first touch, and repetition are the real source of confidence, and how players should structure individual training to actually transfer into games.

We also dive deep into 1v1 confidence, player identity, training habits, visual learning, and how coaches and parents can motivate players without killing creativity.

If you’re a player, this will change how you train.
If you’re a coach, this will change how you design sessions.

  1. Great interview and points highlighted about the use of online videos. Shame the videos on the Coerver app keep crashing. If that was sorted I would 100% re-subscribe! I deleted the app after 6 months of frustration 🫤 .

  2. Michael’s knowledge and love for the game is insane and he’s still growing/learning himself! Everytime we meet him he shares fresh insight from his latest experiences 👏 Such an awesome personality with a huge drive for the success of others – His communication and attention to detail in football as a whole is pure wisdom 💪 The tree analogy at the start sets the tone for this pod – Quality listen 🔥

  3. It was an absolute pleasure to chat with you on the pod, Jimmy! Thanks again for having me, and already looking forward to the next time ⚡️
