Simple explanation is because you are distracted. Partly watching coach (otherwise how do you know the coach is there) and partly trying to practice. When coach isn't around, than you are just practicing, so everything just flows better. Also sometimes nerves, esp if it is a demanding coach, you are trying to make / stay on the team, etc.
My coach litterally came over to me and my partner when we were doing a drill and shouted out they have it down and then I messed up and he shouted not this time😭💀

Fr, I don’t play soccer but I do play basketball. Anytime I play and he’s not there I can make anything, but if I know he’s there I get so nervous😂😂
