The Egypt coach’s ‘X’ gesture during the controversial FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 clash against Argentina has become a major talking point. The signal is linked to FIFA’s anti-racism protocol and prompted an immediate reaction from referee Francois Letexier, who showed the Egypt coach a yellow card. But what does the gesture actually mean, and could FIFA take further disciplinary action? Here’s everything you need to know.

  1. The African teams are playing better than the other teams. They are unable to move further because of some wrong judgement by the Referees.

  2. Thanks for the explanation. Could racism be also considered because the Ref was white? Btw, I'm biracial, and don't play on either side:)I'm sure the coaches' frustration added to the tense moment

  3. Most people are blaming referee François letexier ,but we are not talking about how Egypt soccer team has blamed many other referees in the past and started problems over games ,now is this an agenda coming from Egypt soccer team , very ,sad to know that this gesture was done in the field ,especially in the united states .were we welcome many cultures . Fifa should stand by referee Letexier.Francois letexier is a hero for standing up to bullies .

  4. ""Salah…."" ""Konate…."" by little Isaac, Liverpool fan. I love you little Isaac. Sorry baby that Salah lost. I love you Isaac ❀❀
Let me stop listening to videos on racism and shoot straight to that video on Liverpool players visiting little Isaac….so refreshing ❀❀

  5. Because Egypt earned their performance. They defended bravely, attacked with belief, and produced moments that should have changed the match. When officiating becomes the storyline instead of football, fans feel robbed of authenticity β€” the sense that the match was decided by the players, not the whistle.

  6. me when the referee does his job by not allowing a rule breaking goal to count as a goal and allows a legal goal to count as one but its lowkey inconvenient to me so i have to accuse my opponent of corruption:

  7. He is a coward he did this to protect himself from the backlash he was afraid of when he returns to Egypt… This was his protector to blame others not himself πŸ™

  8. It seems like a system that could be abused by coaches to prevent a lose or to simply gain an advantage through a delay. Frankly, it shouldn't exist during a match. Make your complaint after the game and have a review process at that time.

  9. This is the most blatantly rigged World Cup ever.
FIFA is dangerously, absolutely and irredeemably corrupt.
FIFA is clearly a racist colonial relic that has become absolutely corrupt and useless in every way today.
It’s an international crime syndicate that must be permanently scrapped for a newer a fairer organisation to emerge.
    I have evil. Period
