  1. I like Thomas Frank feels like a possible candidate. And I agree he’s been punching above his weight for a while. I think he would be the next step to bring more excitement from other coaches in the future.

  2. Get Southgate now that he’s free. His style will better suit the US team thats not packed with quality players. He’ll make them tougher to break down and play counter attacking football. The pragmatic style is ideal for these players. It’s proven successful if not pretty to watch.

  3. Cherundolo doesn’t have the experience yet. Could be a really good manager one day but he’s not ready to take the U.S. job before the most important tournament in U.S. soccer history.

  4. I'm surprised that Jimmy didn't mention David Wagner considering that he's German American, and has coached in both the Premier League and Bundesliga. He was also Klopp's former assistant and I would not be shocked if Klopp recommended him to Crocker.

  5. If Pochettino wanted the US job, I'd jump on that. I think he's a very good coach and very good tactically and a good "teacher". Next for ME is Jurgi Low, top international manager and has won a world cup, you just don't get those kinds of managers often. I think he's very structured coach. Nancy for me would be 3rd or Gallardo.

  6. The USMNT can hire anyone you want, it wont make much difference your team is full of unexperienced players. The US could become a powerhouse in football if you guys learn to create hard players that go and play overseas. Mls is garbage and shouldnt be your main source of players

  7. Reading the newspaper today they have the likelihood and suitability score for each candidate. Cherundolo is the leading candidate it seems but there are some names on here I don't think I have heard mentioned yet by anyone like Hervé Renard, France women’s national team coach.

    Steve Cherundolo, LAFC
    Likelihood: 7/10
    Suitability: 5/10

    David Wagner, Unattached
    Likelihood: 6/10
    Suitability: 5/10

    Jim Curtin, Philadelphia Union
    Likelihood: 5/10
    Suitability: 4/10

Hervé Renard, France women’s national team
    Likelihood: 5/10
    Suitability: 7/10

    Jesse Marsch, Canada
    Likelihood: 3/10
    Suitability: 9/10

    Joachim Löw, Unattached
    Likelihood: 3/10
    Suitability: 8/10

    Gareth Southgate, England
    Likelihood: 2/10
    Suitability: 9/10

Thierry Henry, France men’s Olympic team
    Likelihood: 2/10
    Suitability: 3/10

    Wilfried Nancy, Columbus Crew
    Likelihood: 2/10
    Suitability: 7/10

    Jürgen Klopp, Unattached
    Likelihood: 1/10
    Suitability: 8/10

  8. Steve Cherundolo would be a fantastic coach for america 🇺🇸 🥳 I think national teams need to stick to coaches born within their country because foreign managers personally I don't think have ever been successful at a national team level!!!! And a patriot like Steve Cherundolo would be great for the players to embrace that passion!!!!😤😤😤

  9. Almost a perfect realistic list Jimmy.

Add Andi Herzog, Domenec Torrent at San Luis in LigaMX from NYFC. Ronnie Dialla is available too and overqualified. Henry is a big name, but Cherundolo, Nancy, Vieira, and Marcello Gallardo might be the right names.

  10. Pochetino would make the US team compete like never before. Forget about "styles" in terms of the game, focus on the result, on competing and the style will come by itself.

  11. Pelegrino Mattarazzo…U didn't mention him..he's American and has the most international high level coaching under his belt and played for 10+ years in Europe. You mentioned having a coach that gets the most from what he has…Mattarazzo from a distance seems to check those areas⚽⚡🏆

    1. Mattarazzo
    2. Herve
    3. Nancy

US Federation made a huge miscalculation by not hiring Jesse Marsch🫶🏆

Perhaps…Coach Marsch was to honest for the Federation and the federation wanted to maintain a certain level of control/comfort that Coach Marsch would've changed up because he knows US Soccer ⚽ probably better than almost anyone in North America.
Huge fail for us but huge win for our Canadian neighbors and ultimately good for North America and huge that Canada has statically a better team then us and Mexico.

Canada at the 2026 will be a strong team…and fun to watch !

  12. No we need a coach who can get the most out of a group that is talented enough co compete, why do most of you former players have no balls to actually do something vs being a joke organization who just picks so random low quality name from a hat, it’s time to start acting like we need to do more/better we need to push to our max as a nation we are new kids on the block just getting a national team we should be competitive in the top 10-15 in the world because if we work hard and don’t be complacent(like we are now) we can be, and by competing I mean we don’t face Italy or Columbia and know we are going to get our wig split

  13. I think Pioli would be interesting. He's got familiarity with some of the team already either coaching them or coaching against them and he very much seems to know how to get the most out of Pulisic and I think he's headed in the right direction with Musah. REally enjoyed this breakdown on the situation and a longer list of potential coach names!

  14. I'll keep banging the drum until someone realizes the guy is a great manager:

    Kjetil Knutsen

    Great tactician
    Plays a high press
His teams are ruthless and efficient in the attacking third.
Proven ability to punch far above his weight.
The USMNT job would be a financial upgrade, as well as a bigger stage.

Watch what he did to Mourinho and Postecoglou. With a tenth of the payroll, he made them both look like, well, Berhalter.

No one has mentioned him. He should absolutely be at the top of our list.

  15. Herve… 1. He’s won with teams that no one expected. 2. He knows how to work with what’s he got.
    3. He will humble the players(IMO) and bring back competition. It’s a privilege to wear that jersey not a right.
    4. He beat Argentina!
    5. When he wasn’t doing the best job, he admitted it and resigned.
No Cheredolo!!!! All he represents is the elitism that exists in US Soccer! We all saw 2014 WC and we can’t unsee it!

  16. Klopp didn't say he didn't want it. He said he'd like a break. We got a commitment from Emma Hayes who then coached Chelsea for another half a season. Jurgen could go hang out on a beach til January. I don't think Crocker has given up on him yet.
