Donavan played Rm for the most part national they would put him up front as striker. Dempsey was always like CM and once Donavan was out the picture they started playing him up

Twellmen deserves a shout.
Have to agree that neither Deuce nor Donovan, who along with John O' Brien are the 3 best American field players ever, were true #9 strikers. Deuce was a false 9 or shadow striker. And usually used as a wide midfielder for the USMNT. Same with Donovan. They were both 10s in their best form. So neither belong on the list.
3) Wynalda–amazing how people have forgotten how good he was in the early-to-mid 90s. Copa America 95. Nuff said.

These guys are correct. Donovan was not a striker. If these were overall players I’d still say Dempsey is #1.

Clint was more of a Striker than LD. Donovan was a true "tweener" if there ever was one. Best overall player.
Jozy Altidore 70 games in England, 2 goals. I like Davies and I get him and Jozy are pals but there is no way he is in this list

Right now its probably Brian McBride and then Clint Dempsey.
