Agree with your assessment re Barkley, he is not just premier quality but international, he went to villa to try and get back in the England squad and that is never going to happen because he is a permanent bench sitter. we know from experience that he needs games under his belt to work to his best form, villa are doing to him exactly what they did when he was there on loan, he may be happy to sit on the bench on £100,000+ per week but England squad? No way.
We lost six quality players last season and in the summer, not just Barkley and ogbene but also Lockyer, Osho, Lokonga and Kabore and the replacements are not of the same quality.
And what has Edward’s got against Joe Taylor? 4or5 minutes plus added time is not enough time for him to get into the game.
Portsmouth & Oxford will be fine, 3 from Plymouth, Hull, Cardiff, Luton to drop into Lge 1

A very good squad ?? We had one good player – Barkley – who understandably didn't want to stay around when we got relegated, and another , Ogbene , who was brilliant, but all too rarely.The rest are injury- and error -prone.And the manager and coaching staff are inflexible and can – will – not change. Reminds one of Einstein's definition of insanity , to keep doing the same thing that doesn't work and expecting a different result. Still , I have £3 on Luton at 20/1 to be relegated, so there may be a ray of sunshine at the end of it. And let's face it , it was Nathan Jones ' team that really got us promoted. The moment Edwards tried to impose his inflexible ideas on things it started to go pear-shaped.
Have you seen Pompey at Fratton Park recently? They have been battering teams like Swansea (on New Years Day) and Coventry. If we can just get a couple of away wins and maintain our home form, and maybe bring in a quality CB then we will stay up. PUP

It's not the injury issues causing Luton's slide – it's Edwards inability to change. His 3 centre back system doesn't work and the stats prove it. The lowest points tally in a calendar year and currently all but bottom in the form chart. He continues to play 3 at the back and expects the result and performance to be different – 25 games later, Luton could be in the bottom 3 come Monday and I doubt the recruitment will be there as Edwards has a habit to play everyone out of position to fit the 3 centre back nonsense.
