I hate when people get mad at the goalie unless they could have 100% stopped it. The ball had to get past at least 10 other people before it got to the keeper do its not really their fault.
In 5th grade (age 11 in Finland) I was always made the goal keeper when we played soccer at school. According to my teacher I wasn't scared of the ball, I beg to differ since the play was like this every time.
I was goalkeeper for a while and my dad always said it’s never the goalkeeper’s fault it’s the other players that either don’t help the defense or the defense isn’t paying attention🤗(or everyone just sucks)😅
I play field hockey (but the concept is similar). I’m a midfielder. I was on a middle school team and the defense RAN AWAY from the ball. My coach would put the bad players in so they would get a chance. Like I want to win for once 😭😭
I am a goalie and my defense always acts like it is mainly my fault when we lose and I’m like I passed that ball so nicely and you fumbled a million times and let them take so many shots
I play volleyball and I thought that was a weird looking volleyball net so at the start I was like “WTH IS A GOALKEEPER” (Background context- I played soccer for four years..) 😂😂😂😂😂

this is so true and I only play soccer 3 times as a goalie but im also really good as a goalie in my team/div and yet I still get blamed
Fr its the defense and goalkeepers but the offense never gets blamed when they cant score to save there lives
i always say if it got to the goalkeeper, that just means the rest of the team didn’t do their job 😅⚽️🥅
Luckily, my coach always made sure to let me know it wasn’t my fault and would get on the defense for their mistakes
Fr! I used to play keeper for rec soccer and I broke my finger three times in one season just saving the ball 😭
My coaches never blamed me because I would always blame myself for every little mistake I made so I think they would lie to make me feel better lol
