  1. you don't need to go watch real football not soccer to be the best. Americans think that you can be good at football if you are good at fifa games sorry it doesn't work like that. it takes more than that MLS have to start building soccer fields in the streets, that's how you make world class football player on the streets.

  2. If we honestly want a superstar this bad, then there is one thing you should know. Don't waste your time training the superstars that don't love the game. Like you said, training is the same for your whole life, and in the end the people that love the game will stick through. So why don't we have our own Messi? Because we teach football, Argentina doesn't, Spain doesn't, Portugal doesn't, No big soccer countries teach football. They love it, live it, and are it.

  3. As is, America will never have a player like Messi. Just look at MLS. Donovan was the best finisher the USA ever had. He developed in the minior league and a german club reserve league before going to the USA. Although he was greatly known playing for the USMNT, his club run was underwhelming because the lack of success outside of the MLS. He never won the CONCACAF Championship League nor come close like Real Salt Lake. America is to far away from even making a player that can challenge for a starting position in a world class club other than our goalkeepers. To point out MLS's biggest problem; they are not competitive, low on skill and love talking about how good they are doing instead of showing it. There is no promotion and relegation for ever talent in most of the states and cities in America to find a talented player close to a Beckham type. MLS is only focused on marketing and getting good foreign players into the league and paying them 50 times more than their primed American players. American development in MLS will always be average as long as they stay in MLS because MLS don't have the proper league system to develop them into great players. MLS rather run like a American sports league like the NFL, NBA and MLB before soccer that the rest of the world follow under FIFA (salary cap, split conferences, player drafting, single enity, heavily relying on the NCAA, ect).

  4. i have to mention 3 things: 1.there is an awesome goalkepper who is american called Tim "fucking" Howard who plays in Everton 2. Jermaine Jones is an excellent soccer player 3. if there is not much stars is because MLS is not value as well as others sports in America like Football or Basket….:/

  5. It's better to have a handful of players with some skill, rather than 1 person with talent. Look at germany, they don't have a ronaldo, but a team with hardworking players to become better

  7. Aiming to create players like Messi and Ronaldo is ridiculous as they have a level of skill that no amount of training or dedication could recreate, not to mention that there have only been a small handful of players who could be compared to them in history. New York Red Bull's Thierry Henry even said that kids shouldn't aspire to be like Messi because he has almost superhuman abilities, but should aspire to be like Müller or Ribery. Also, the MLS is only 20 years old.

  8. Don't worry. In due time the united states will have such a world renowned player like messi. Its my dream to be known across the whole entire world for my awesome skills and talents when playing soccer. And its not just me many others across the whole of the us would love to play in the mls. However I do think my generation would be the best us soccer generation and there would be many more american players in European leagues. But I don't think if we ever had a player like messi, he would play in the mls for long. All the best soccer players play in European leagues.

  9. A problem for the USA is the best players in the world all played street football as kids. The USA has no street soccer culture as soccer is too organised and middle class in America. This means the USA doesn't produce those high technique players that world class players always are.

  10. Jimmy Conrad reason is complete BS. America is not the only multi-sport nation in the world. I would argue Great Britain is more of a sporting nation than the USA and it doesn't stop England producing world class players. Rugby robs English football of bigger smarter athletes because it is the sport of the educated classes and Cricket robs England of good goalkeepers because the best catchers play Cricket. Tennis and Golf are also bigger in England than in the USA so the UK also have a crowded sporting landscape. Andy Murray and Lewis Hamilton were said to be highly talented soccer players but chose different sports.Soccer is a test of a nation's talent, intelligence and innovation in the development of young players, training methods and team tactics. The USA maybe on par with the top nations in terms of training methods and team tactics with Klinsmann, but it is lights-years behind even the small nations in youth player development, America is only just starting to have youth academies for kids, when this has been around in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa for many decades. In the modern era nearly every world class player has played has been in an academy and this is why the USA will not produce a world class player until they have players training as professionals from the ages of 6 upwards like what happens in the rest of the world.  It could take America 20 years produce a world class player because the academies have only just started and it takes 15 years to see the results of academies.

  11. The problem with the U.S is they don't have enough teams, A country the size of the USA could accommodate around 50 leagues and then you would soon see great talent emerging

  12. I hear this all the time that American's play lots of sports American Football, baseball, ice hockey and basketball etc and that everyone else say in Europe doesn't, now whilst football (soccer) is undoubtedly the no1 sport in Europe or better yet no1 in the whole world it might come as a shock to some to learn that there are other sports that are also wildly popular such as Rugby league, Rugby Union, Cricket, hockey, volleyball, basketball, cycling, water sports, tennis, cycling and athletics etc popular and in the winter the winter sports of skiing, skating and ice hockey are also played and supported. For example Manchester is home of 2 giant football teams and is also home to rugby league and rugby union teams and the second oldest (1857) cricket ground in the world which regularly hosts national as well as international cricket matches, it has a major velodrome, a speedway track, athletics etc and even has an ice hockey team. Hell it even had an American Football team til the novelty wore off lol and this is just one random city i picked. In Britain there are if anything more sports for kids to choose from but football (soccer) is clearly no1 followed by rugby union and league and cricket…

  13. I believe it all starts with the youth academies…….they need to change the system and how they operate those programs, otherwise, we will only ask those same questions in the future.

  14. This video assumes Messis grow on trees….
The MLS will never produce a player of Messis skill, not because it's a bad league but because players like him only come once every few generations.

  15. This is bullshit if someone wanted
It as good as messi In America they could if they had heart, skill, and determined themselves to be good they could. Football is 90% heart 10% skill

  16. Its not about producing Messi its about producing world class talent. Saying that I wouldnt worry because its a matter of time now. Today more and more young americans are being prepared to play at a top level now its about MLS as a league

  17. The question I ask myself every night when I go to sleep.

Go to the streets, pick the most talented (technical, not physical) kids, put them through academy, build up talent at home (knowing that big overseas leagues are more popular), sign the kid(s) to an MLS team, watch him (them) dominate, sell him (them) for beaucoup bucks, rinse, repeat.

  18. Please the major problem is at the academy and club levels for under 18s the whole notion that you have to pay ridiculous amounts of money a year to play at your club and pay money for tournaments actually prevents some athletes from getting exposure and or simply playing time, how many times have I seen great players quit in the US because they can't afford to play here, travel to another country which is cheaper and test their luck in other countries where you don't have to pay to play, change the youth system and you will find better players.

  19. I am and will until the day that I retire, working hard on a regular basis to become the best soccer player I can possibly be. It is a really big goal and dream of mine to represent either the U.S. or El Salvador by playing in a FIFA World Cup.

  20. Manchester did not produce Ronaldo, Ronaldo is just naturally born with skill. Clubs do not produce superstars like Messi or Ronaldo. Clubs produce players like Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey…

  21. It's the money, I've had talks about this and it came to having full ride scholarships like American football and basketball do, like it said in the video, soccer is in other countries a " way out" while bball and football is here
