  1. people talk about Shitaly like they were the shyte when in fact Shitaly handed free qualifications for decades. Now that Europe seats numbers were reduced, Shitaly showed it's potential which is not qualifying 3 times in a raw. Move on!

  2. Baggio as FIGC head, Conte as Coach and need some quality strikers, impose a limit to number of foreign players in Serie A clubs, focus on youth teams at clubs and scout them and give chance to play for national team. We need them to play with some pride and aggression. They must earn the badge and shirt. You dont play for a 4 time champion team just like that.

  3. Amen! Maldini – ADP – amazing choices. Italians are some of the proudest cultures – Italian football is pride – we need someone who is flipping pissed off – we are a laughing stock – Prerequisite for new staff – All need to be humble, accept the shame and have patience. It will take time to ahow the world who is boss!

  4. Keyword here: Corruption! Inter's role in all this is being guilty for the downfall because of their corrupt system and bias FIGC figures.

  5. Point 4, fix the youth systems?? Invest more money. How?? When they are stuck playing in Seríe C or D? Until Italian top flight clubs stop bring in in 19-20 year olds Germans, French, Dutch, Africans and start playing 19-20 year old Italians. Look at the Spain French national team or the Spanish. Their players under 21 play for their top flight teams. Italy’s U -21s ( with a few exceptions ) play for Serie B or worse.

  6. Marco and Matteo's passion is infectious, but passion and Italian roots only go so far. As an Italian from Italy, I'd love to see you bring in a guest straight from Italy, imperfect English and all, someone with a real lived understanding of Italian football and culture. It would add a whole new dimension to the conversation.

  7. It was somewhat alluded to. You need to start seeing more Italian players playing with the top teams in the Searie A. Most of the teams in the top tier are from other countries. The Serie A is developing players for other national teams. They need to rethink their strategy. I know it’s a big ask when there is so much money involved

  8. As a Mexican having lived the past 5 years in Italy, I've been a season ticket holder for Fiorentina the last 3 years and have traveled throughout Italy to go to Serie A games, here is what I'm seeing. Also, I'm here for work, so I'm working daily with Italians. The first part that was mentioned here is correct, Italians dont' want to change, it's all about friendships, they don't like to see younger and lower class people come up. Secondly, the speed of the game is too slow, that is why they haven't had a top scorere lately. They just can't keep up with the faster players, that is why recently the top tier defending no longer keeps up. Technically they are still up there, however lack speed throughout all positions. They need to increase spending in infrastructure and players, look at Como, a team that was no where a few years ago, a foreigner came in (richest in Serie A owners) and spent money on players to prodcue a top team here in such a short time. Also, look at the play of Como, different compared to rest of Serie A teams. They bring in too many older guys with names instead of giving younger Italians playing time. The older players with names can play in italy as it's slower pace

  9. The leaders lack Vision.
First no more lack of vision!
No more bureaucrats and political BS
Bring back homegrown talent to the team. And let’s get rid of this thousands of years of hatred between the south and the north and Bring players that are actually far more generous in creating striker positions.

  10. Letting go of the status quo! And there’s no incentive to go in the World Cup when all of these players are making more money at these other tournaments there’s just no incentive to create cohesive strikers like in the past when they’re earning their money in other big national tournaments

  11. Just for the English friend who don't know Italy: there's no way they'll choose someone like Maldini or Del Piero. They'll choose another "politicians" from the same breed as Gravina and Abete, they'll make some inconsequential changes, no hope for a real change (maybe if they break down the whole federation, but I don't see how they could)

  12. disappointed in Bonetti recommending Allegri for the job. Him & Conte are two of the biggest reasons Italian football is in the mess it's in. He didn't change Milan from a 9th place team to a 2nd placed team. Fonseca & Conceicao turned them from a 2nd to 9th placed. Allegri to his credit has brought them back to par, but in doing so he's played the worst football I've ever seen & potentially setting the club back 10 years with his preference to older players.

We need "tear everything down" relating to the first point. For that I can only see a foreign coach being the answer, preferably Guardiola.

  13. The only thing to bring Italian Football back is to produce Fantasistas again. They cannot reclaim their Italian Defensive Football identity without producing Fantasistas.
