  1. I think UEFA has to make it uniform across all top leagues if possible. Make it like the world cup, let the crowd see whats going on. Another thing, that is more of a bonus but like the NFL, the ref can have a mic explaining the VAR descision to the crowd.

  2. Handball rule was nonsense, anyone with a brain can see that. Rewarding teams for accidental and unavoidable handballs is not 'sport'. To eradicate the armpit offsides, offsides should go back to the currently pointless linesmen and rather than the dotted lines VAR should use a chunky 50cm line, if the offside is greater than this thick line – its clear and obvious and goal should be reversed. No one ever talks about the very frame at which the ball leaves the assistor's foot – thats impossible to tell and the difference of one or two frames can currently render onside armpits and big toes offside.

  3. Change the offside rule to "leading foot Closer to opposition goal than the nearest defender" and job done. None of this armpit or finger tip bullshit, just the leading foot should count as an attacker is always going to have arms outstretched if he is sprinting, the defender is not as he is standing ground. Much easier for var , much more acceptable to fans.

Or even better, change VAR to manager/captain gets 3 chances to overrule a decision which is then looked at by VAR, if he is correct, he keeps his challanged and has 3 left still, if he's wrong he only has 2 left, much like tennis. All other decisions unless challanged are not decided by VAR but the officials on the pitch.

    Problem solved?

  4. Showing the replays in the ground, and miking up the referees, will bring it leaps forward. Then make the referee decide close decisions using the monitor, and we’re golden.

  5. In Rugby you can hear the refs talk about the decisions, see the var in progress at home and in the stadium and they always get the decisions right. It works perfectly and it should work for football.

  6. VAR is supposed to minimise controversy, but in England it has been creating even more controversies. VAR was already a success at the world cup in 2018. So, VAR is not the problem. Instead it is the FA, the system it creates, and the English referees are the ones who make themselves target of laughter in football world.

  7. 1. Get rid of the handball rule, where any handball by the attacking team cancels out a goal
    2. Show all the same VAR replays that are shown on TV, within the grounds
    3. Add a margin of error for offsides e.g. If the blue and red lines they use to mark offsides are touching, then benefit of the doubt is given to the attacker (bearing in mind the subjective armpit/floating foot locations)
    4. Let us hear at least the reason for the var check and the final decision/reasoning

Over the next few years, they need to focus on getting the technology good enough to where decisions can be made almost live, primarily offsides. Got to try and stop goals being ruled out 2 minutes after they've been scored and fans have already celebrated.
