Despite suffering defeat in Dresden, the North Rhine-Westphalia Team are promoted into the top flight and there was no holding them back. They’ve now been able to put their incredible recent past behind them.
In 2014 they were promoted into the Bundesliga for the first time. However, they suffered an immediate return to Bundesliga 2 just 12 months later. Incredibly, they then finished bottom and slipped into the 3. Liga. In 2017 they were on the cusp of dropping into the 4th Tier. And now they‘re back in the big time. Welcome back, SC Paderborn!

    Congratulations Paderborn. You have been promoted. From the beginning of the season, you fought until the end. I hope you keep your great shape. I'm keeping my fingers crossed in the Bundesliga

    No doubt they'll get relegated straight away like Hanover and Nurnberg but just being in the big league is such an achievement for them. I would've liked a Berlin derby though so I hope Union Berlin win the playoff, even if it will be a shame for a big club like Stuttgart getting relegated.

    Now we just gotta figure out if Stuttgart can keep their place in the top division or if Union Berlin can redeem themselves and finally reach the Bundesliga

    I’ve been keeping track of their progress ever since they got relegated in 2015.. they were lucky to even stay up in the 3.Liga in 2017 .. absolutely incredible to achieve two straight promotions back to the top flight after it seemed the club was in absolute free fall mode the last few years .. congrats to them and I hope they can stay up next season !!
