Worste comment is the last one mentioning
safety of the Players… come on man… it’s ok to say that it was a mistake
We face that guy—and others like him—making biased decisions in favour of Galatasaray every week in the Turkish Super League.
It is a clear penalty, he hit face either on purpose or not, it would be clear fault anywhere on the pitch.
The butthurt is strong with this one 😅 watch us play a solid 0-0 next tuesday like we did with juve
Turkish referees are a disgrace. The president of Ankaragucu punched this referee at the time. UEFA did the madness to give to this referee in this match.
That was not a penalty😉
0:04 It's easy to justify it's a penalty, since he stretches his arm backwards (which is absolutely not normal) and uses his own hand to try and push his opponent's face back (the defender actually touches his opponent's face).
What I question is why the video was cut so that the "reply" by the Brugges' player is not completely seen. I mean, the Brugges' player also stretches his arm in the same way as the defender, but we don't know if the attacking player also touches the defender's face because the video image was cut. That is what's sus to me.
But hey, I say all this without wearing a suit, so I guess I'm wrong.
I've played football for 10 years (¿at "a decent level"?) and no, this is not "a slap in the face" to me (1:19).
What's a slap in the face to me is the fact that since the Eurocup 2024 you can use your hands to shove, push and grab the hell out of your opponent's t-shirt and nothing happens, but if you touch his foot with yours just a little bit, it's a penalty and at least a yellow card. And yet these same journalists do not complain so much about this.
Which common sense, yours or mine? 2:16
Also that same guy on the left says it was the most embarrassing penalty ever given, that he hasn't seen anything worse than that, that it was the softest one ever… Once again I wonder:
What about all those penalties that are awarded just because of a tiny foot-to-foot touch? That's as bad to me.
0:40 Wow, what an argument (because "IT'S FOOTBALL!"). And no, as a football player you can NOT "put your hands out" like that. Because you are playing football, not rowing on the boat.
And the other guy taking about slapping on the cheek when saying hello to his friends. I don't think he has a lot of friends if I actually does that.
And the other one saying the good old "what's the message you're sending to the young kids"? And then he goes 3:47 . Come on, man, gotta be kidding me.
"The ref made a HORRENDOUS call to give this a penalty kick". As I said at the beginning, it was a JUSTIFIABLE call to me.
Is journalism about informing or about exaggerating, I also wonder ?
3:14 I can agree with this though.
3:56 that's like saying: all the judges say (insert your crime here) is a crime, but hey, that's an issue because the civilians think otherwise.
4:35 yep, the referees themselves are indeed not to blame. The laws aren't obscure though, I think you can find them online.
7:43 and that's because when it's not clear, it's best to just let the original decision be. But he's implying that's a bad thing to do.
And to top it off right afterwards the one on the left goes 7:53. When the refs let the original decision be, they are NOT "trying to make an imperfect game perfect".
"We are trying to make an imperfect game perfect and it's not working". Using offside tech is FAR better than not using it. The problem is with HOW they use that offside tech.
"It's a defender using his hands to run" 😂😂😂 what a way to run my boy, with arms all stretched backwards to cut the wind for sure.
8:52 is he trying to suddenly argue AGAINST the one on the left or what?
"He doesn't even catch him in the eye" is like saying "hey, he tried to break his legs, but since he didn't pull it off because the victim jumped, it's therefore not a foul".
That's not a debate, that's more like a circle jerks reunion.
9:44 Christina knows business. That's what I call "common sense". And there's absolutely no "obscurity" there.
I don't think it was a penalty either, but…the players should finally learn to stop waving their arms at eye level, it's too common. This is more of a penalty than a tipsy ball when you have your arm against your body! It's no more ridiculous than offside by 1mm; right?
UEFA insane unfair soccer burocrats
From childhood we got to learn football is a heavy physical game now in this era professional football gives penalty for some touch in body. What the hell joke going on dude? It's a men's game not crybabies.
Football is always a mirror of society and this is a clear indication of where society is going: bureaucracy wins over common sense.
This is funny. A kind 🎁 from the the ref to Brugge. No worries. We win in Bergamo. Forza Atalanta 💪💪💪
That referee beeds to be investigated. That was a very bad decision
Did he see Celtic Bayern game. Never giving it but could have.likes to hear himself
That is a Clear penalty because Atlanta's player's fingers have been touch to eye of CB player even as light
Football isnt perfect, but this makes you question why UEFA are using an imbeciles that have been banned from officiating Saudi Pro League for being sub standard, got punched from a club president a year ago for being sub standard. How does UEFA deem these morons competant. That is the part I dont understand.
this IS NOT SPORT, let's write "respect" also in high UEFA level!
it's never even a penalty
It doesnt matter if its a player or referee tells you thats a pen, & I gaurantee you that no most referees wont tell you that is enough contact to warrant a pen, & if they do, they shouldn’t be officiating.
Ayyy TC salah assemble
Was it a penalty? For me, no. That being said, if your hand hits a player who's 197 cm in the face, you can't really complain when the ref blows for a foul, whether it was inside the penalty area or in the center circle. Also, while it shouldn't have been a penalty, you can't base this game on this decision alone, because if you look at the game in its entirety, Club Brugge deserved the win. It doesn't excuse the penalty, but it also doesn't mean Club Brugge stole the win.
Club Brugge was the better team, but winning the match like this is not the way. I don't think Nilsson just dived, it can hurt when you get a hand to you're face/throtte. But a penalty shoudn't have been awarded
To be fair, that Nilsson guy is like very tall. How do you manage to his face without fault 🤣
Well Club Brugge has it previous year in 1/2 final Confrence league vs Fiorentina… have seen a lot lighter penalties
welcome to our world folks, in Turkish league Halil Umut Meler and his homeboy Okan Buruk (Galatasaray Coach) have ruined football in the country.
never a penalty. disgusting
Hello. I'm a big supporter of Club Brugge and live like 20 km of the stadion. Just to let U know that I, a lot of ofher supporters here ( like 3 out of 4 ) and even the tv-analists , think this can never be penalty !!! I do think FCB deserved to win and am curious how Atalanta will be next week. Yves
To say that Club Brugge didn't deserve to win is blasphemy, they were the better team and they were dominating atalanta. Atalanta had a very bad game and lost possession often
Club Brugge, if they had any shame or self-respect (which none of today's clubs seem to have), should have rolled the penalty kick to Atalanta's keeper, shook hands and walked off 2-2 after the first leg. They could have perhaps begun a revolution against inept refereeing, VAR and all of it. The referees, as has been demonstrated ever since VAR immediately turned into a runaway monster, make penalty decisions they would never have made pre-VAR out of fear of being overturned. I would imagine that refusing to call penalties that are not penalties and being repeatedly overturned would lead to a significant reduction in that referee's lifestyle. This horrendous development in the beautiful game makes football nearly unwatchable for anyone with a brain and a soul.
If the measurement to award a penalty is decided by the intensity of a certain action, then you'll end up in much more unclearer decisions, cause for A something is worse than B. His arm doesn't need to be there because he does it to HOLD OFF a player, then you know you can catch them in the face.
100% penalty. Football is a game about attacking a ball, not a person. Only physical contact allowed in football is with the shoulder. If you want to sway with your arms, planting them in the face of a person, then boxing or MMA is a better choice for that.
If you ask this panel if it would be a foul outside the box, all 3 would say yes. For instance the penalty that Atletico Madrid got in the Bernabeu was way more blatant than this one. Overreaction.
Keep crying!!
As Fenerbahce fans, we experience these referee disgraces every year in Turkey. Fenerbahçe's championship has been stolen for years. Turkish referees controlled by Galatasaray barons are now slaves to the betting mafia in the CL league.
Very funny to hear these ex players raging about this (very light) penalty and blaming the referees, while it's them that have been going down for decades in the box on contact, it's them that go down on any contact with the face like mike tyson just hit them with a haymaker, it's them that dispute every decision with teh ref even if they know they are wrong, it's them making challenges that take out ball and attacker. As a ref, the rules are clear unless you are talking about handballs. It's the fact that the players in football are giving way to much freedom to engage the ref that is the problem. Look at international rugby, that's the way to go.
And on topic, the defender should just keep his arm low, he was ahead of the attacker, would have never created danger. The defender created the contact, the attacker went down.
To say you haven't seen a light penalty like that in your life is utter bollocks.
It's a light penalty, but when this happens in midfield it's 75% fault always given!
That’s why Jose Mourinho shares ref scandals on his instagram account in Turkish Super League.
Free kicks in the box do exist. That would be at best what could have been given.
He gave so many penalties in favour of Galatasaray in the Turkish league that this referee must have been influenced by him🫤
UEFA: corruption.
Atalanta was robbed.
UEFA Corrupt
Funny that you are stating multiple times that because of the penalty there is an unfair result in the game. Did you actually watch the full game? A Brugge win was a fair result after such a game, despite a very lucky penalty.
If this was a foul given anywhere else on the pitch not a single person would bat an eye and would say it's a fair free kick. But because it's in the box it suddenly becomes not a foul. Why does a foul have to be twice or three times as bad before we say that a foul is worthy of a penalty?
If you commit a foul in the 16 yard box, then it's a penalty.
EDIT:
By the way, his arm is WAAAY up high. Gustaf Nilsson, the fouled player, is 1m97. He is not a small player. Meaning that his arm is nowhere near where it should be trying to shield. I see these type of fouls called at least a dozen times a week. Just because it's now a foul in the box it's suddenly an outrage.
The guy is wrong though
Putting more players up to help refs get common sense is not going to be the answer.
Football is always going to full with situations where it is going to be about how the situation is interpreted by the ref.
I have seen too many discussions by ex players on a situtation where they dont agree as well with each other.
But absolutely current VAR protocols are faulty and insufficient as is..
That penalty call was an absolute disgrace. Che vergogna.
Also, what is UNK on about?? Stop talking, please…
