USWNT vs. England | Highlights | FOX SOCCER

It was a high-profile friendly between the US Women’s National Team and England. Both teams got the scoring going early as Lauren Hemp scored for England in the 10th minute while Sophia Smith answered with a goal of her own in the 28th minute. England took a 2-1 lead in the first half after Georgia Stanway put home a penalty kick. The US appeared to score their second goal but it was overturned via VAR. The second half dwindled down as England locked down on defense. The US threatened but never really came close to capitalizing on opportunities.

  1. A lot of people asking β€œwhere’s the offside line and why is it not shown?” … remember VAR will be used only for "clear and obvious errors" or "serious missed incidents" so honestly, if you β€œneed the line” to determine if it’s offsides, than it probably wasn’t β€œclear or obvious”

  2. This one is very tricky. Smith was offside when the ball was played. The ball wasn’t played directly to her as her teammate dummied it. Smith regained an onside position before attacking the ball. The question is does the ball have to be played to an offside player for it to be offside and does coming back and getting back onside negate the the offside.

  3. We must realize that USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ dominance of women's football has come to an end. One more thing team USA stop crying like aspoil brat when the call goes against you.

  4. Are they being serious ? What is that ? Promoting mediocrity… Please don't call it professional soccer when the level is not higher than a regular high school level. Only goals I see is on really dumb mistakes from the defense, no one is doing anything really, very approximative… I'm shocked by the support for such a disaster. Soccer is one of the last thing we have… don't destroy it !

  5. For the USA – our national team is looked upon favorably. Much more than the NWSL. I suspect it's because the US has had such great success with the USWNT. But I think it's more a prideful support for women – not necessarily the sport itself. The national angle – that only a female soccer team has (outside the Olympics) is the major strength behind the fanbase.

  6. Alana Cook and Megan Rapino deserve another jobs. Two of 4 losing goals were likely given away by Alana. She can not figure out how the ball's going, what to do, how to struggle. Megan can not run and struggle any more. Cannot put her in the game just for deadball shoots. Let her be a shooting trainer at the training ctr.

  7. The offside shouldn’t be called – even if she was at time of the pass off which isn’t clear – defender has ability and skillset to play to ball, she just miss it bc she was tricked – with that being said – they should look into offside position from the moment of the ball passing the defender and in that moment was USA Player on site.

  8. I started to watch this but then I heard JP Dellacamera's horrendous commentary and had to stop. Seriously, I can't wait for him to die so we never have to hear his commentary ever again.

  9. How is Rapinoe still on this team? We have so much talent and still have hold-overs that need to move on. Not knocking Rapinoe, but with the talent we have those minutes are valuable and we have a lot of young ladies that need that opportunity

  10. As I predicted 10 years ago…

European teams will overtake the USA woman. The coaches are simply better and the players are more technical and tactically savvy!

You cannot rely just on athletes. The youth players are simply not good enough.

Embarrassing that we have so many girls playing soccer but not many soccer players.

    Always an excuse for losing!

The Yates report was going to be their get out clause for losing.

The USA national teams have become so WOKE!

One more thing England were also without some very key players so not having Pugh and Morgan is not an excuse!

  11. VAR ruined the game that being said, Alana Cook is not good enough to physically and mentally slow, Andy Sullivan useless, Sophia Huerta ?, Haley Mace should not have even been there !

Lindsey not her dominant self since she been in france, Lindsey or coffe at the 6, Rose and Sanchez as double 10's, and they need to play closer to each other, too much space,

But get rid of Alana Cook and Sullivan while there is still time. find a young right back like Kiara Pickett to back up Kelly Ohara, Huerta isn't young

  12. The offside call was unlucky, but more so that Morgan, Pugh & Macario were all out of commission. That being said, the inexperience showed on the young defensive line. Girma was just ok, and Mace needs a lot of work. I would hope Sauerbrunn & Dunn would be starting an important game.

  13. Big pluses were seen…the play of Rodman. Girma, the rookie, chasing down England's fastest player. Dunn returns after only several months of maternity leave. Can't wait till Macario and Lavelle has more time together. And Fox who got knocked out of game gets more experience. She is a stud!

  14. Rose Lavelle has turned into Ben Simmons with her reluctance to go at goal. I've commented a number of times that Tweety Bird Lavelle as well as Sanchez need to put on some weight and hire a personal trainer to get faster and stronger. That's the only way they're going to have much of an impact on the team.
