USWNT edge Portugal 1-0 as the USA struggle to put the ball in the net | FOX SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS

The United States Womenโ€™s National Team get the 1-0 victory over Portugal, but it wasnโ€™t easy. Portugalโ€™s young goalkeeper, Ines Pereira, was superb, only allowing the one goal. The win gives the USWNT 40-straight victories and 16-home wins in a row.

  1. So this is it now the LGBT has taken over the national team. The wnba wasn't enough with all the scrutiny now they forcing people to wear those colors day in day out

  2. Oh how I used to love and admire our USWNT years ago. Sadly, the team has diminished to a horrible level compared to who they were. This little write-up is not to insult and bring our team down but to think back and bring the level of the performance up.
The game of soccer is not just about winning or losing. It is about master basic skills such as passing accuracy, shots on goal, improving personal skill levels, and so on. Watching the Mens' Euro 2020 or Copa America games just enforces my statements. As someone had stated below, Nigeria has improved compared to what they used to be. Well, my friends, sadly, the USWNT has gone down in many different ways. Their passing is absolutely pathetic. Ability to dribble is laughable and continuing to hold on to the ball for extended periods of time is non-existent.
I watched pretty much all the friendly games they played in the past few months and was completely disappointed in all their performances.
Vlatko Andonovski, the coach should understand my point of view. It is not just winning a game. It is always how well you perform. As much as I don't want to mention any individual names, the older players with great reputations are pretty pathetic, and should peacefully bow out now.
At the rate the team is functioning, it is only a matter of time when other teams start beating the US team consistently.
Mr. Andonovski, please have your team members watch men's teams like Italy, Gemany, Brasil, La Liga, Premier League, Bundesliga and so on. Let them compare the standards. Let them comprehend the differences in the levels. Let them learn how basic skills of soccer should be developed. Let them re-learn how to hold on to the ball while on the attack and end each play with with masterful shot on goal.
Well, once again, my apologies for offending anyone. My sole intention is to help bring back the old USWNT standards back so we could all continue to love and watch some great US Women's Soccer again!

  3. Ms Rapinoe had a rough night. She is still a powerhouse. Press and her are the Ying and Yang. Christen felt her pain. Henceforth, she made her alter ego emerge for a win for Rapinoe, herself, and the team. Christen is just that sweet and kind.

  4. I think Portugal watched USWNT's recent game against Sweden and I'm sure other countries, specially the goods ones, are now on it as well.
Vlatko needs to do some serious tactical adjustments or the girls might be sent home early from the Olympics.

  5. Iโ€™m sick of these ungrateful fans always banging on Carli Lloyd who scored and wasnโ€™t offsides but they make excuses for Morgan who sucked again and choked from point blank range

  6. Portugal used a bunker defense in this game. Its the only way to keep the US from scoring. Their offense isn't good enough. Sweden used this tactic during the 2016 Olympic game and it worked. You must attack bunkers head on using your most skilled players. Rapinoe's service balls were awful. I would have pulled Rapinoe for Sophia Smith. Breaking down a bunker requires you skilled and quick players. Lavelle, Sophia Smith, Press, and Williams. Vlatko waited too late to sub out Rapinoe. The ladies could use some NFL help on some of their moves inside the bunkers. The spin move and jump cut would help them break down bunkering defenses.

  7. I was here and it was one of the most boring unskilled games of football Ive seen. Both teams looked utterly amateur. Portugalโ€™s 10 is so bad she didnt even make a run all game. Also, referees were trash.

  8. Lloyd's selfishness cost them the 2nd goal. Press was onside, it would have counted if she had scored instead of Lloyd. Lloyd has had her time on the team and is a legend, but it's time to let some younger players get a chance.

  9. USA needs to fire vlatko I donโ€™t even know why they called up a coach who couldnโ€™t even get results in the nwsl lmao couldโ€™ve picked up someone like Marc parsons smh

  10. This team is too deep to let the big names give less than 100% without consequences in what's supposed to be an audition for the limited Olympic roster spots. Will be interesting to see how Vlatko handles it in the other tune ups.
