Tbf about the refs Jimmy, arguably the top ref in the world. Certainly top 3, is a Captain as a police officer in Holland. There's even a bit about him in the documentary "Man in the Middle" on Paramount Plus.
Big Takeaway. We got lucky(Jamaica) and can step it up versus weak competition(Reaction to no-fire Jamaica start onto Mexico) but limited by this coach at the end of the day(Jamaica low block).
Jesse doesn’t remember how it goes when McKennie has to play as a double pivot (more defensively) or even in previous usmnt games where he has to stay home. McKennie doesn’t do well there.

The USMNT is simply a better team with better players, in spite of a poor manager. With a better manager, this team would be spanking everyone in CONCACAF even worse than they already do.

The American media and some of the fans are so desperate to prove that they are "too good" for CONCACAF, and they're using Mexico's lowest moment as evidence that we should only be playing teams like Brazil and France, otherwise we are playing meaningless matches.
There are always ebbs and flows to the development of a national program. I agree that we should constantly be challenging ourselves, but to act like CONCACAF is beneath us because we're the dominant team in the region, for the first time in our history, is ridiculous. By their own logic, should teams like Brazil and France turn their noses up at the US because we're "beneath them"? Should Mexico have left CONCACAF in the 80s, basically dooming the US and the rest of the confederation for multiple generations?
