Everyone is talking in circles over the real issue: it’s a power struggle between power hungry federation members and the players, namely pulisic. They don’t like the support and untouchable status pulisic has so they are trying to erode and weaken that base. It’s just politics as always.

Just say it's not important enough. How is he or any player on the usmnt getting the benefit of the doubt? You have to do something else to get that and they never do anything. If pulisic was injured then don't play. If he wasn't injured he didn't want to play.

The guy has suffered injuries, he knows his body and I rather have him at 90-100% with little team chemistry during the World Cup than have him on the bench with 100% team chemistry.
International play is important but we also need to realize that players are overloaded and everyone needs a break

I agree for the most part how Herc feels regarding Pulisic, but as a Milan fan since 1988 (yes American fans, AC Milan did exist b4 Captain America arrived), he's been harping all season long how Pulisic is a good leader, when I can tell ya, he's a quiet dude who does not have natural born leader qualities. Pulisic should whatever he needs to do to further his club career. If we were playing for the LA Galaxy, he would play. Donovan could not cut it in Europe.

So many are missing the thread on Donovan: Donovan took a sabbatical from both international and club from December 2012 to March 2013 at the age of 31, having already competed in 3 world cups for his country, including the first when we made the quarter finals. He did so for mental health issues, and he sacrificed about $1 million in salary from his club. He came back well over a year in advance of the 2014 WC, but was left off the team by Klinsman for the June qualifying matches. He was called in for the Gold Cup in July and was named the tournament’s best player with 5 goals. He was called up to the full squad in September for WC qualifying games against Costa Rica and Mexico. He had an assist and a goal in the 2-0 win over Mexico. Klinsman then dropped him from the WC roster. Go figure. The issue with Pulisic is he didn’t just man up and say he needed a break. He hid from the controversy until it became untenable after his father’s bush league comments. Donovan and Dempsey, as paid commentators, had every right to call him out. I would note however, that Drmpsey’s hostility towards Donovan is interesting; he skipped the 2013 Gold Cup that Donovan starred at.
Why be a part of meaningless friendlies?? How about coming in for camp, rest during the friendlies and let other guys play, but then suit up and play for the Gold Cup? Not sure who's counseling him on this (his dad, probably), but it's a terrible look.
Gold Cup isn't even the best ⚽️ tournament in CONCACAF anymore it's the Nations League now that's where EVERY1 sends their best
