  1. I love how all these ex-players have turned into media pundits, they report only the things that fit their opinions while leaving out the majority of information that would work against what they are saying/what they want. Herve Renard is known for getting more out of his players at the international level mostly in AFCON, but his attitude is exactly what a group of soft entitled players need, especially if they aren't playing up to their talent or even as good as they do at their club. These 3 guys are so disingenuous. Charlie brings up him getting "his" club relegated when it comes to Renard but he wants Tierry Henry as the coach leaving out pretty much everything that has to do with him being a coach (not good ), you can't take what he has to say with any legitimacy it's all about emotions, resentments, and people he wants to be friends with (Henry)

  2. Reynard would be a great choice. He would draw incredible attention to the team (handsome, charismatic and a winner). The team would definitely know he was in charge, no leadership council. He wants to coach in many different associations, he could be a short term hire to right the ship, then get a longer term hire after WC2026. He's a national team winner, Africa – Zambia, Ivory Coast. The French Women's National team was in shambles when he took over. He won with Morocco and Saudi Arabia. Hide your wives and girlfriends!

  3. Tony shutting up Charlie after the biased Herve Renard take is all we need to know about major media us soccer media. The people with real opinions are secondary options, and people being pushed aren't real.

  4. Come on Charlie with all due respect, your take on Hervé Renard seems quite dismissive. First of all unless I have completely misread your tone, it’s seems like you’re downplaying the weight of winning AFCON. Second of all, he didn’t just win it twice, he’s the ONLY coach to have won AFCON with two different counties, one of them being Zambia who was an underdog in the tournament. His Saudi Arabia team was also the only team to beat Argentina in the World Cup.

He is an experienced international coach who has a record of winning. He also has a record of punching above his weight (something our last manager didn’t do a single time). Even if Saudi Arabia didn’t advance that was still a gigantic upset. I get if he’s not your preferred candidate but downplaying his success is baffling.

  5. I really believe Charlie and most USMNT fans need to go back to high school and learn how statistics work. It seems like majority (fans love to live on the outlier versus the norm).

  6. Crazy that you guys are not for Herve Renard. You talk about getting a coach who can gell with the players and get along but that’s exactly what berhalter was… we don’t need that again. We need a manager who could hold our players accountable and also have real international tournament experience and has had successes. No he’s not perfect but should be our number 1 realistic candidate

  7. 100% on the Herve Renard train here. If these MLS coaches were better than him they would have resumes like him. They dont. And i say that as a big fan of MLS. Yall are shrugging off his RESULTS which are quite frankly better than the history of the USMNT where we REHIRE coaches who sometimes lose to mexico for a second time around. And with a MUCH better team than Saudi Arabia could imagine fielding.

  8. You guys should get Southgate. His pragmatic style is better suited to a team like the US that isn’t blessed with quality, but has plenty of young athletic players willing to run and close down. He’ll make you a lot tougher to break down and play counter attacking.

  9. If all you know about Renard is his speech with Saudi Arabia then you haven’t done your research. He won the African cup of nations with 2 nations. Yes Ivory Coast could be expected but Zambia was a long shot at best. Then he got Morocco to their first World Cup in decades and got a bad Saudi Arabia team to the World Cup.
His success at the club level is mixed but we aren’t hiring a club manager so that matters little. We don’t need a long term project coach we need a win now coach and that’s what he does. He wins right away and has a proven record of getting teams to be greater than the sum of their parts. That’s what we need.
And yes he doesn’t stick around long, Good.

  10. McBride said 2 weeks ago that GB was the best candidate after 2022 WC search. Tab Ramos said he thought Gio was going to be the next Zidane. I think we should leave it to the professionals…

  11. The bigger issue is: should more American players in Europe come home to MLS to get consistent playing time and sharpen skills, or stay in Europe coming off the bench the next two years???

  12. I think it´s the perfect time for Cherundolo. Or do you really want to “burn” a world-class coach whose job it would be to muddle through with a middle-class national team? As soon as there is an acceptable youth system in the USA, things will get better. But not the way it is now. Where are the good players supposed to come from? For me, Pulisic, Balogun and McKennie are the only three players who can be said to be able to compete internationally at all levels. Robinson and Musah are also important for the team. But otherwise? There are simply no players who have what it takes to be important for the US team. And before you come up with any statistics: in football, statistics are completely worthless. All that counts is how many minutes each player has actively played at what level. Only then does a coach take care of individual matters.

  13. I don't think I can buy this whole Poch "would be a good hire because he improved the players at Southampton and Tottenham, so he would improve the US players" idea. Poch did that over a number of seasons, training them 10 months out of the year. The national team manager has them 2-3 weeks out of the year? More in a lead-up to a tournament. But I don't see how that will improve the players, and really shouldn't be a US manager requirement.

Then throwing shade at Herve Renard because of his halftime speech for Saudi? I mean didn't Jesse get a lot of love for his halftime speech at Anfield – that was rah rah. And in German no less. But he's their buddy so…

  14. “There’s no time to turn the federation around “ after saying the guy is a “World Cup winner who turned a federation around..” Tony says…. we don’t got time for that 😂😂😂😂😂😂

  15. Eddie Howe! He has expressed interest in the England job, but if Southgate stays, we might be able to lure him away from Newcastle. Also, despite being a pressing manager, Newcastle has a low goals against stay.

  16. Please NO SOUTHGATE!!!! The last thing we need is another coach trying to play a slow lame technical system that didn't have good showings while he had foden, Bellingham, Kane, saka, ect., ect. and expect anything but more of the same with McNuggets, Weah, musah, and a very suspect backline and GK. I love our players, they are at the ages when they start growing up and becoming men, I want to enjoy these next handful of years watching them try to reach and push themselves. It seems like they need a stern coach with a simple free flowing system and someone during practice/matches/life to ask more of them than what's been asked to this point, then it will be up to them to take advantage of the time they do have and prove to us and themselves they are worthy of the hefty "golden generation" label thats been put on them. It would be so great to see this happen but I have a strong gut feeling the federation is just going to hire another MLS coach…. Which is not fair to any of the fans or these players………. Also I love how Tony is always bringing up "the right guy" in arguing about the fans wanting a big name, like he knows that in his example "John Smith" is going to get us to a semifinal but the big name just gets us out of the group, the fans want to see Matt crocker and the federation put something into this instead of just accepting mediocrity while fleecing our pockets to support our national team. A big name shows you tried no matter the outcome a MLS Coach shows you took the easy route and don't care about the supporters/fans. Hervey Renard, mattarazzo, there is a middle ground to meet in and if they still can't even do that it will be the end for a lot of people when it comes to our national team and supporting it

  17. Hilarious. These guys bash Renard, who has actually won international tournaments and then want to hire Pochettino, who has won jack outside some secondary club cups. Hey Charlie, guess who managed the only team to beat Argentina during the last World Cup? And with Saudi Arabia no less!

  18. Why is Charlie always recommending Chavi??? Any Barcelona DNA into this national team will be a downgrade and downfall, we don’t want the loser DNA

  19. Are these guys saying that Saudi Arabia beat Argentina but lost to Mexico is the take home lesson?

Neither should be the take home lesson. But he was able to win the Africa cup of nations twice, and once being Zambia.

He is a good coach and outside of the Low and pochettino, probably the best coach.

  20. Kjetil Knutsen.

Never heard of him? Look him up.

Better yet, look up what his club, Bodø Glimt, did to José Mourinho/AS Roma and Ange Postecoglou/Celtic. "Who or what the f*ck is Bodø Glimt?", you ask. Exactly.

He went toe to toe with established Big Five managers against clubs with at least ten times his payroll, using a roster composed almost exclusively of Norwegian domestic players – and humiliated them. He also scared the hell out Ajax, beat Galatasaray, and Red Star.

I will grant, none of these clubs are Real Madrid or Man City. But they are name brand clubs with huge fan bases and oceans of cash to spend on players, relative to his budget.

His teams play an aggressive high press with crisp, direct, slashing, overlapping attackers. They are ruthless in the attacking third and play beautiful transition football.

I have no idea why he isn't on the radar of more big clubs or national teams.

  21. Hopefully they hire someone quick so we can stop asking the exact same questions every show lol. Tony has answered what kind of coach he wants like 6 times lol.

  22. South American pitches arent great either. I remember watching Brazil 2014 and wasnt great. But yes these pitches werent great. NFL players want real grass again. I
