D.C. United was the 1st dynasty in MLS, however the District’s soccer roots go back much further than 1996 and have long been tied to Civil Rights.
Dubbed “Chocolate City”, at one point, D.C.’s population was over 70% African-American. The Movement delves into the stories of Black Broadway, the legendary Howard University men’s soccer team, and the growth of the beautiful game in D.C.
Calen Carr, the host of The Movement, is a former MLS forward for the Houston Dynamo and Chicago Fire.

I am from Malaysia. My dream is to go there to take many pictures of DC United.
Back in the early 2000s, the first team I started to follow about MLS is DC United.
atlanta fans are fake asl compared to dcu
Love this content. Love D.C.
Nothing about the NASL? SAD!!!!!!!! This is the problem with the ML$ is that they think nothing came before them! And that is not the case!!!!!!
Do NYCFC's owners next!!! Sheikh loveeee💙💙💙
More ‘diversity’ = less white people
great video
Awesome content and a touching stories. Thanks CC and MLS.
Too bad this was shot before they could Donovan Pines in the video. Go Terps! Go DCU!
Finally DMV!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
MLS needs to create more content like this, this really reminds me of stuff on NFL Network. Keep up the good work!
Cool Stuff, except for mins 4:26–4:39.
5 people must’ve voted for Trump.
This was a good one, Calen. Kudos to the team behind it.
This is amazing
Love it! More of this.
Man what a Great Video. I am from Maryland born & raised went to DC many times touring Howard University where my Dad went to and didn't know about their Soccer History. I currently live in Atlanta as a AUFC Fan, but still have a respect for the Wings of DC United.
Donovan Pines #23
For someone who moved recently to this great country, this amazing DMV area and started following DC UNITED right away, this video gives a great insight into the history. Top stuff MLS!
hits close to home as I lived in DC for three years!
Never knew of all this soccer history in DC. Calen, great piece my man!
Mean while on the USL front, New Mexico United fans have sold out every single game drawing a 11k per game(which is good for a lower division team). Their atmosphere is even more special because their fans all bring flags and wave them. Also the Indy Eleven is drawing 20k per game.
DC didn't care about soccer until Rooney, look at the attendance once he arrived.
US soccer is a joke like the country. 10 grand for 1 youth tournament !! So playing soccer as kid in America is more expensive than playing in academy of Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga team. Shaking my head at the greed of Americans. And they wonder why they don't qualify for world cups.
This was awesome!!! DC PRIDE RIGHT HERE!!
Say what you want about MLS but damn this is the kinda content that makes the young league unique
Black America is going save US soccer if they make youth soccer free like the rest of the world. They are going to save US soccer like Falcon saved Captain America. On your left.
DC UNITED! (CLAP CLAP CLAP, CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP)
Great video showing MLS fans one of the original teams and it's first dynasty ,rise to help shape what the league has become today.
Nice Content as always:)

The Movement is amazing. Hopefully DC can keep signing more homegrowns that represent the various cultures and colors of the Capital.
