Untold History of Soccer in D.C.

D.C. United was the 1st dynasty in MLS, however the District’s soccer roots go back much further than 1996 and have long been tied to Civil Rights.

Dubbed “Chocolate City”, at one point, D.C.’s population was over 70% African-American. The Movement delves into the stories of Black Broadway, the legendary Howard University men’s soccer team, and the growth of the beautiful game in D.C.

  1. I am from Malaysia. My dream is to go there to take many pictures of DC United.
Back in the early 2000s, the first team I started to follow about MLS is DC United.

  2. Man what a Great Video. I am from Maryland born & raised went to DC many times touring Howard University where my Dad went to and didn't know about their Soccer History. I currently live in Atlanta as a AUFC Fan, but still have a respect for the Wings of DC United.

  3. For someone who moved recently to this great country, this amazing DMV area and started following DC UNITED right away, this video gives a great insight into the history. Top stuff MLS!

  4. Mean while on the USL front, New Mexico United fans have sold out every single game drawing a 11k per game(which is good for a lower division team). Their atmosphere is even more special because their fans all bring flags and wave them. Also the Indy Eleven is drawing 20k per game.

  5. US soccer is a joke like the country. 10 grand for 1 youth tournament !! So playing soccer as kid in America is more expensive than playing in academy of Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga team. Shaking my head at the greed of Americans. And they wonder why they don't qualify for world cups.

  6. Black America is going save US soccer if they make youth soccer free like the rest of the world. They are going to save US soccer like Falcon saved Captain America. On your left.

  7. Nice Content as always:)

Btw can you guys help me reach 50 subs please.i'm a smaller YouTuber looking for some support and I make football montage and compilation videos.

  8. The Movement is amazing. Hopefully DC can keep signing more homegrowns that represent the various cultures and colors of the Capital.
