  1. Tanner Mordecai was a good QB with no protection. He was running for his life. You should see his game against LSU and you can see it. I am not saying he is five star QB but he was solid with no opportunity.

  2. When one accepts that most 60 min ftball games regardless of levels only contain about 12 min of aggregate action, even a few secs of remaining time can mean the difference between winning/losing! It does seem like Fickle is packing it in. At worst, he gets fired n walks away w/$20M. Ugh. UW is going to lose for a very long time. And the main reason, is their woeful commitment to generate NIL funds; now ranked in bottom 20% of Big 10!

  3. Wisconsin has to level up with the NIL and transfer portal rules. Fickell is a better coach with better players and knows it. He had more roster talent at Cincinnati prior to new era rules and did quite well. Wisconsin needs a new AD as well. Current one is trying putting out his failed women’s NCABB coach experiment! If I were Fickell, I would quit on this behind the curve program soon and save your reputation.

Wisconsin sports has always been behind the curve historically and will continue to lag with the new era rules.

    Run Fickell Run!

  4. It’s time to move on. He likely ends the season at 2-10. It will be extremely difficult to get NIL funding for 2026 and people in the stands unless you move on.

  5. Considering how pathetic wisconsins NIL budget is for the big 10, I think Wisconsin alumni would be better off writing checks to good players instead of writing a bigger check to fire Fickell.

  6. You are probably right Craig. Fickle is likely done but the steep buyout will delay the inevitable. As a Badger fan, change was needed as the recruiting department collapsed and NIL changed the landscape. It just has not worked out. Still I see one way that he can save his job. If he wins both rivalry games (Iowa this weekend and Minnesota to close the season out) he should stay. If he splits them then maybe. If he loses both, he’s got to go regardless of the buyout.

  7. Not sure who would be successful coaching the Badgers today. Strongly suspect there is a lack of support for managing the NIL/portal aspect of college football. Until WI does that and brings cash, the Badgers will struggle.

  8. Use every situation as a learning experience. So you can't win. OK, but another game you may be in it. Try a few things, take good notes and be ready for an opportunity in the future. But what do I know.

  9. Not only did it strongly look like Fickell quit, Moore tried to put another score on the board. It was like the 2 coaches had a side bet on the spread. As for Fickell, he has had bad luck with injuries. Not only has their been QB injury issues. Every year the thinnest position group gets hit the hardest with injuries. Year 1, RB1a went down for the season and RB1b got dinged up for a signification portion. Last season, the D-line was thin and the number 1 DT goes down in the preseason. This season the O-line was thin then the projected starting LT went down in the spring and the starting Center is dinged up. With that said, there are at least 6 L's in the Fickell era due to lack of prep, effort, adjustments or whatever it is against equal or inferior opponents. Year 1 it was Indiana and Northwestern. Last year it was Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota. So far this season it was Maryland. Another odd thing this past off season was the DB room. 4 guys transferred out in a position group where playing time is available and 2023 all Big Ten CB Hallman's play has regressed.

  10. Is there any way possible that you could move the Illinois pennant to a place where we can see it, like all of the others, rather than seeing less than 15% of it at all times because you are always in front of it? Other than that, it's a great show!

  11. Nah I’m with Barry Alvarez. Trust the process, it’s been only 2 years you can’t expect a turnaround instantly. Fickell has had all of his QBs go out with season ending injuries, cut him some slack.

  12. The BIGGER story is not why Fickel accepted the 14 point loss to cover the Spread at 17.5,
even though he denies it, Sharonna was absolutely not taking the “moral high ground” . he was complicit in the play calling with hurry up offense to get that closing touchdown on the board.

  13. The remaining schedule for Wisconsin is brutal. It's hard to see any kind of positive outcome for Wisconsin or Fickell. It's very like he and James Franklin will be job hunting.

  14. He's doesn't care – he's got so much money coming from his buyout – he's playing out the string – he was the wrong choice and will always be the wrong choice – where is the talent??? Did we used to be a school where OL when to, now there are none

  15. I wrote immediately after the onside kick that I'd NEVER seen a Wisconsin football team QUIT! Michigan was held to short yardage on the first play but when HC Fickell didn't call time out his D also quit! The Badgers don't have the best players but their teams play hard, you always knew you played Wisconsin but how bruised up you were! Badger fans know!

  16. This isn't rocket science. Fickell was NOT the right fit for Wisconsin. This is a perfect example of the Peter Principle. He rose in the coaching ranks to his level of incompetence. Not his fault. Not Wisconsin's. Wisconsin needs to move on ASAP.
