Honestly, Ghana was the biggest opponent that US scared of in this group due to their past glories over US team. Portugal and Germany was as strong as USA too. Don't be surprise that Ghana may bounce back to win or draw their next two matches. Soccer is unpredictable. Brazil would never believed that they would fought for their life against Mexico in their home soil yesterday 06/17/14. There are lot of surprises in WC.
After seeing how Portugal performed today, I can see the US getting another 3 points. Ppl are overrating the one man team by A LOT. If not at least a draw is understandable. I still don't see how ppl see Portugal as a threat in this tournament after their abysmal performance earlier.
Was a fantastic hard fought win. I do fear the worse for the US against Portugal and Germany though
PERU!!!!!
call Landon Donovan back. US team played worst than US team in 2010.
I wouldn't say Ghana "deserved" to win this game. Dempsey scored in 30 seconds and Brooks scored 4 minutes after Ghana's goal. From the 2nd minute on, it was 80+ minutes of Ghana domination. Posession doesn't win games and if Ghana only made one out of the many opportunities they created, then I'd say the US "deserved" it more because of their efficiency and they're bounce-back goal after Ayew's
Overall the US played sloppy and defended for their life at points, but I am sure glad we some how got 3 points. A crazy physical and emotional game.
