  1. Young kids… -Co-ordinator/Agility
    -Multi positional Exercises
    -basic Technical Elements
***10 to 11 years old START COGNITIVE THINKING……Some learn by Visual….Some learn Orally….Some learn by in place Physical Postioning. All Players need to know General Tactics snd Applied Tactics….

  2. This idea of coaching greatly varies from where you are. I see what he’s saying but throwing a kid in the water may teach him to tread water but it doesn’t mean he can swim. Yea a kid will learn to tread water however is that the goal? To not drown or to be able to swim effectively. Other countries don’t have the problem that the USA have. The culture is different. Kids want yo be out there. Nit mom and dad want them to be out there.

  3. I love finally an American coach brought up the issue which couse younger players loose creavity and afraid to make decisions. I call those coaches "Chase Player" who's envoling in every move. Thank you!

  4. This was a great episode! Two very good perspectives on the US and how to try and help it on. A huge problem in the US is life…..children won't improve by playing 2/3 hours a week. We played for 30 hours a week in Ireland growing up and we all just played rec soccer (or not at all).

I don't fully endorse the 10,000-hour rule but even as a benchmark, it would take US kids playing 2-3 a week, 60 years to get em in

  5. Todd I have never disagreed on decision making in an ideal world when kids practice on their own and are technically good like in other countries yes. I grew up in the Netherlands and played 6 years at Ajax with Jordi Cruyff I remember playing in the summer I think I played 6-8 hrs of soccer a day! How many hours in this culture are kids playing organically ? I asked our staff in our club one day there were hundreds of kids training out at our complex. How many players out here do you think are training on their own ? There has to be a balance and yes you need to also train isolated technique in practice that percentage should be based on the quality of players. You just don’t throw a kid in the water that doesn’t have the technique to just swim ! Kindergarten kids don’t learn algebra. Progress technique and progress decision making. Having studied many top academies many have Coerver at all ages less at older. I think Johan Cruyff was on to something talking about specified training. I know the Ajax academy has Coerver and they have all the top kids👍🏽

  6. Super intelligent. It’s so interesting he speaks about architecture which utilizes solid/void relationships and elements to define space, boundaries, and envelopes – similar to football.😎
