On today’s show we take a look at the summer transfers which are yet to take off, and debate alternatives who could have been signed instead.

With Arsenal’s struggles up front in the Premier League and Champions League this term, should they have prioritised an attacker earlier in the summer rather than spending big on Calafiori and Merino and waiting until the last moment to sign Sterling on loan? And which underrated Spanish star could have been the answer?

We also debate Kylian Mbappé start to life at Real Madrid – is it just teething problems or is he just not suited to playing as a centre-forward? If so, which world class number nine should they have got instead?

And what about Chelsea? After another busy summer, they still somehow look short at goalkeeper and on the right wing.. who should they have signed instead of Jorgensen and Joao Felix?

We also take a look at West Ham, Liverpool, and Crystal Palace!

  1. Even the best players have blips. Unfortunately for Mbappe, Vini Jr is the main man at Real Madrid and he has earned that status. It is up to Mbappe to step up WHERE HE IS NEEDED and perform. Madridistas are very unforgiving when you don't embrace the team. That is we already love Jude, he embraced the club and played where he was needed. I hope Mbappe sees that it is okay to have a blip but the main focus is being the best in his position, not LW because he aint shifting Vini Jr out the way. I'm being very patient with him from my POV, because not everyone just hits the ground running. It is fair for people to ask questions because of the star he is but we also need to remember this is a bit of a step up from French football too.

  2. On the Mbappé topic: I'm getting flashbacks to Benzema's first season at Real Madrid in 09/10 when he was bought from Lyon.
Now, admittedly, he wasn't as hyped as Mbappé is now, but he was still considered one of the most promising strikers in Europe back then and had been piling on goals in Ligue 1 for fun for several years.
People might have forgotten about this because Benzema's arrival coincided with CR7's and Kaká's arrivals, but his first season in Madrid was not great. He ended up losing his starting spot to Gonzalo Higuaín and was not selected for the French squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa (he didn’t miss out on much there, to be honest).
But…let's just say it turned out great for Benzema and Real Madrid in the end over the years. 😄
So, as a lesson from the past, I would just advise patience with Mbappé!

  3. Ivan Toney would have been perfect for West Ham. Possesses similar attributes to Antonio in terms of physicality, would have linked up well with Paqueta Kudus Bowen etc, covers penalties and carries the confidence to go against the striker curse. Cost would have been 45-55 mil, easily would have given him a good wage upgrade on Brentford and he would have loved the challenge of carrying West Ham back into Europe

  4. There’s nothing dire about Felix not starting a game ahead of Palmer. No one in the league would. Felix hasnt had a bad game it’s only the start of the season, he will start games in December in the pl.

  5. Neto and madueke competing for RW and mudryk and sancho competing for LW. Out of every position, how on earth is there needed a winger, when that is our strongest position on paper and in results😂
