Is Columbus, Ohio the most important city in U.S. Soccer History?
Many cities claim to be ‘SoccerTown, USA’ — however for a community that boasts the first soccer specific stadium in MLS, a winning tradition for the U.S. National Team, and the first team to be ‘saved’ — The Columbus Crew have had many historic moments. The Crew will add to that history with the opening of their new Stadium, Lower.com Field, and for this MASSIVE club – the future looks bright.
Homecoming is a new series that looks at the unique story of soccer stadiums in North American and explores the design, inspiration, and origins behind the best and brightest stadiums in Major League Soccer.

The growth of MLS is scary. They could be breaking into the same level of quality as the major European leagues by 2040
I’m an English football fan who loves our traditional stadiums and tends to be against all things modern. I’m seriously impressed by this, proper ground. This is what purpose built stadiums should look like
黒い屋根はスタジアムが引き締まって見えてとてもカッコいいなぁ。。素晴らしい!
I hate to see LGBT flags. It insults intelligence. There are all over everywhere. Save USA.
@FCDallas needs to get on board
Yeah that owner that tried to move the team to Austin was rebuked . Good on Columbus keeping their squad.
Another city? You can say Austin.
from Austin, congrats! looks beautiful and hope to visit the new stadium someday.
This is ours on the concacaf youtube channel
That pocket of Columbus is really becoming a sports hotspot. You got the baseball stadium nearby and the hockey stadium. Congrats to the crew and the city!
nice to see a european inspired stadium in the states. congratz
Why are they called "Nordecke"?
Since my dad works there he pretty much showed me the hole stadium and sweats…. If you did not tell me this was a stadium I would have thought the inside was a restaurant!!! It's that awesome!!!
"a passionate supporters' group that played a pivotal role in saving the team from relocating to another city" and which other city was that, huh? carpetbaggers
What a beautiful stadium for a beautiful city!
Going to the game tonight go crew
Don Garber really has egg on his face now!!! what a clown!
Lmao they built a new stadium just for a few fans to show up
What a beautiful stadium coming from Toronto
I am a TFC die hard but happy for you guys – Remember 2016 playoffs speaking to your fans about saving the crew – Happy you guys saved the club got a new stadium and moving forward now- I will say this we miss Bezbechenko so much he was a huge part of our club and success –
I know I’ll get hate, but I still think that they should have stuck with the rebrand of Columbus FC, and then using the “Crew” name as their nickname. 🤷🏻♂️
Beautiful city🌞
I wish they would of brought up the tree supporters shield instead of just one
To the five thumbs down folks – WTF? Do you feel better?
fun fact. Crew stadium has to build a underground parking garage bc the old ohio state penn unclaimed inmates burial spot can not be dug up for a parking lot.
America awesome country 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸you have big future in football. Hi from Europe
Es el primer equipo de la mls que tiene estadio propio unicamente para futbol. Les quedo de lujo, ojala sus equipos jugaran la copa libertadores de america. Mejorarian su nivel deportivo
Columbus is a flyover shithole Cleveland runs Ohio
