21 years ago Finn Harps beat Dundalk 3 : 0 at Finn Park to win the First Division title. Dundalk's day today. It may be some time before Harps are playing Premier Division football again unfortunately.
Fair play to Ciarán Kilduff and the team on earning promotion. Pressure increased as the season neared the conclusion. Just over a year ago this club nearly went out of existence because of successive bad owners and John Temple stepped up to try and save the club. The man deserves to enjoy tonight and I thank him again for what he has done, because without him we’d have had no club to celebrate tonight. There were over 3500 Dundalk supporters at Oriel Park tonight. Average attendance for the previous 17 home league games this season was 1400-1500. I hope the 2000 extra tonight remember where Oriel Park is next season.
