Former South Korea national team coach Hong Myung-bo has resigned after the country’s disappointing 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
The resignation comes as South Korea’s government investigates the Korea Football Association over the process used to hire Hong in 2024. Reports also claim Hong is currently staying in the United States while the controversy unfolds.
Although criticism has been intense, no disciplinary action has been announced against Hong, and the investigation remains ongoing.
