Why does British dislikes football being called soccer?
Exactly. It was invented in Great Britain and they call it Football. Not Soccer. It's like if you named your kid George, but people insisted on calling him Roberta in USA.American football isn't football; it's just rugby with armor and different rules. the logical name will be "American Rugby" or "Armor Rugby", but football?

I'm Australian, so while 'Soccer' is typically more common, it's fairly interchangeable with Football, as long as you're OBVIOUSLY not talking Aussie Rules.
