  1. Iโ€™m sorry but this competition is a complete failure. Iโ€™m baffled as a British person why MLS keeps pandering and ruining the attraction of their soccer by constantly having games and competitions with irrelevant Mexican teams. It is just short-sighted and lazy. Chivas USA didnโ€™t work, so why does MLS keep going to the same well and pandering to Mexican American fans and it never works? Mexican teams bring nothing to the MLS, not even Mexican American fans. When you add Mexican teams to MLS competitions, you make MLS that is actually a league that gets global attention, to something that very parochial. MLS killed the all-star game, because used to get global attention when they played European giant teams. They changed the game to MLS vs Liga Mx and all global interests in this game disappeared instantly because no one who isnโ€™t Mexican has interest in Mexican teams or players.

The Leagues Cup would be the equivalent of if the Premier League created a competition between Irish teams. Yes there are lots of historical and cultural links between England and Ireland and England has a huge Irish heritage population, but this competition would have no appeal to anybody outside of Ireland. That is what MLS is doing when they have Liga MX competitions.

  2. Now we get to heal and rest for the actual important matches.ย

Rooting for LAFC to make it to the final (where they'll likely do what they usually do in finals), then rest their own starters for the season restart, if you know what I mean.
