    Although embellishing isn’t as bad in European leagues as it is in the MLS, I believe it is time to eradicate it from the beautiful game.
    If you want to act, go become an actor. But stop insulting the fans, the opponent, and stop embarrassing yourself.
    If you need to cheat or lie to win, maybe you should consider doing something different; something honorable. There is no place for play acting and crying wolf. Should be relatively easy with VAR. If the fear is adding time to games, reviews can be done after the match and penalties and fines assessed after the fact.
    If the cost is significant enough for the team and the player it will be eliminated in no time.

    Leao getting a red for attempted overhead is nonsense. The replay shows no contact or very minimal contact if any. What it shows is the defender embellishing substantial contact by grabbing his face as if he had been severely injured. Any ideas on how to eliminate embellishing from the game? Here are mine.
    The penalty for embellishing:

    * if the play is reviewed “DURING the match”, and embellishing is confirmed, the embellishing player must leave the field to serve a 15 minute penalty in a designated area; their team must play a man short for the 15 minute penalty; the player may resume playing or be subbed off after serving the 15 minute penalty.

    **If a player is guilty of embellishing 2 times they will miss the next 2 matches;
    *If a player is guilty of embellishing 3 times they will miss the next 4 matches; keeps doubling.. *** these are in addition to a monetary fine

    *If the play is reviewed “AFTER the match”is completed and embellishing is determined, the severity of the penalty will be determined by, or based on, the benefit and advantage gained as a result of embellishing.

    Each incident brings a monetary fine for the
    player/& the player’s team. Fines are progressive and double with new incidents as follows:
    1st Offense: $5,000 US/ $10,000 US
    2nd Offense: $10,000 / $20,000 etc…..
    Team will forfeit any win where it has been determined that the embellishing act caused unfair and substantial benefit for the embellishing team, and equally unfair and substantial punishment for the opposing team; resulting in an undeserved win and an undeserved loss. Both the win and the points will be awarded to the opponent.

    Sampdoria play the most disgraceful football i've ever seen. They dive more than an Olympic diving team. They cry more than room full of babies. Sampdoria are literal trash and i will be actively rooting against them the rest of the season and hoping they get relegated because there is no place in modern football for their bullshit theatrics.
