2004 – 2006 were Portugal's glory years. They had a team which should have won both the Euros and World Cup. The 2002 squad at Japan/South Korea was quite solid too. Shocking that they didn't make it out of the group stages.
It baffles me to think that this Portugal team didn't win any of the major tournaments. It was stacked with so many talented players.
There will never be another Rui Costa. Pure class. So magical on the pitch, I will continuously overlook that he got his start at Benfica. 😉 😁😁

I was 15 at the time. This summer was truly the best time Portugal lived in a while. Football had united a nation like never before, every single house had the Portuguese flag in the window, we were true brothers in something that far transcended football as a sport. After that everything went south. I'm sad that we are going through such a bad time, but I've seen what we can do together and I'll always be proud of my country. One of the happiest times of my life.
