You must play for either Madrid, Barca or a Pep team.
Possible exceptions if you play for Spain or Argentina.
You can be disqualfied if you meet one of the criteria, but play for another non-acceptable team (Haaland – Norway, Bellingham – England, anyone in the Bundesliga)

The problem with Real Madrid was that they had 3-4 players who played well. The real star was Carvajal and he deserved it more than Rodri in my opinion. Vinicius scored 20+ goals but it's nothing compared to Ronaldo's 50-60 and Messi's. You can't give the award to Vinicius and Bellingham to share because each wasn't as good.

Messi winning over Haaland is criminal-theft, and I say this as someone who recognizes Messi as the true GOAT. International duty should not affect the Ballon d'Or. That season Haaland put up will live on in football history as the greatest single season from any striker, period.

Rodri won the Premier League and the Euros
He also lost one game all season in the premier league. Rodri has been nothing short of the best player in the world. Vini didn’t do anything special and Brazil did terrible in the copa america. The right man won.

The difference in Leagues is our mid table and some lower table teams are capable of beating the top teams. In other leagues the lower table teams are cannon fodder.
