Lewy acted out of pride and we all would have done the same in his shoes. This manager got Poland relegated to group B of nations league for the first time in Poland's history. Last 2 deciding matches, when all they needed to stay in group A by finishing 3rd in their group (their normal position) all they needed was a draw. Lewy didn't play in either match due to injury and they lost both matches! And this coach gets to keep his job and Lewy gets stripped of captaincy? Poland's PZPN is deluded

There is rather fatigue national football in Poland because it is a sport pumped up by the media in a situation where when this sport has not had any successes for decades and in situation when it is not the national team that actually decides about the level of sport in a given country but rather the league and clubs .
In reality, for Polish football it does not matter much whether the national team advances to some tournament with some Lewandowski or not, because only club football will decide the future of football and any sport .
As a polish I can say, we are now divided inside the country as it would be picking a president. One team want's coach out and want Lewandowski back, Second team wants Lewandowski Out and keep the coach.. It's ridiculous… And now after a loss with Finland 1:2 which made Poland at the edge of not qualifying to WC 2026, it just put a lot of oil into the fire. I don't even think some people fully understood, Lewandowski wanted to rest, and the coach agreed, then out of sudden they put online information that Lewandowski is not a captain anymore, not saying it face to face but putting such ridiculous information post online. There is a lot of weird decision making by the coach, and in fact, he doesn't give any decent result for the national team since he became a manager of the team. That's why Lewy said "enough".
I personally don't believe in this team IN THIS SCENARIO, with this coach, without Lewandowski, and this team needs a lot of changes inside.
Generally it is the clubs that build football in a given country, not some Lewandowski Poland was strong in the 80s and 70s in football because it had a lot of football clubs and a lot of people played football.

There is one angle you guys are missing. He refused to play because of mental and physical fatigue. The coach supported him, saying he is old, played 4000 minutes this season so he can rest. Then he decided to play last game for Barcelona in order to reach 100 goal mark, that game had no value, because they already had secured the title. That friendly against Moldova was goodbye match for Grosicki, longtime partner of Lewy in national team. Grosicki expressed his dissapointment in his supposed friend so suddenly Lewy lost a lot of PR points. So he suddenly shows up on that friendly, just to clear his image. Him showing up stole all the attention from Grosicki and it turned out even worse. On top of that he went to TV station and tried to BS himself out of it. Lewy looked like he can just do whatever he wants, like he is above this team. The coach who first expressed his support now was angry with him. Supposedly some team members too. Theres a lot of fake news coming from both sides and I just have to say both sides managed this as poorly as can be. Circus.
Lewandowski at the age of 37 wants to rest more simply . Similarly, in Poland, not many people play football really does not deserve to be treated too seriously, especially with the current coach who has not had any real successes even in Polish football.

Guys you are missing the point by a little, so I'll add to the Lewandowski's subject. It was not only because of taking the captain armband from him, even though obviously it was hurtful to our greatest legend in the polish football history. Phone call yes, also not how the manager should communicate such things to a player. But in big part Lewandowski's reaction was caused by the fact he told the manager he wanted to announce that he resigns from the captain armband by himself and this way everything would go fine. But Probierz answered no, that it's his decision and he will announce it. Basically Probierz (manager) is a very little man with a huge ego and he wanted to be 'the one who humuliated the greatest player'. Guy who never achieved anything as a footballer nor as a coach really because it's hard to say some minor cup was any achievement. Maybe some jealousy or something, who knows why this guy acts this way. He wanted this story to pet his ego and it turned againts him because right now he's the most hated person in our country and clearly this is actually quite an achievement now, considering how our society hates its politicians right now. Last night polish fans chanted during the game 'Probierz GTFO', they supported Finland to win the game and today the most common comment on the internet is 'so good they have lost to FInland'. It speaks volumes.

Poland's manager should and WILL be fired soon enough. He's a total incompetent. He agreed with the decision to let Lewy have a rest after a long season and recent injury. It was a mutual decision. Then when the Polish media and fans critiqued Lewandowski's absence he threw him under the bus and stripped of the armband permanently. He also chose to do this over the phone when he had just seen Lewandowski in person at their previous game and could have talked with Lewy then. So then Lewy responded by saying he won't return to the national team until this clown is gone.
The results and play since this manager took over have been abysmal. Poland are no world beaters. But they've been losing to Albania, Moldova and now Finland. And barely squeaking out wins vs Lithuania and even Malta. All smaller nations with little to no success in international football in their entire histories. 5-10 years ago these are teams Poland would have been beating by 3 goals or more in qualifiers. Now they are losing or barely winning. Again, they're not some world beaters but should be doing much better. They have players playing in such clubs as Barcelona, a couple at Inter, Arsenal, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Aston Villa, Bologna, Feyenoord etc. While those other countries have players playing in small leagues and small clubs. So there's no excuse. This coach should have been fired during the last Euro qualifying campaign.

He scored 1 goal at the last Euros against France in the only match he played (missed first 2 group stage games through injury). And at the WC in Qatar he had 1 goal as well. Where Poland only played 4 matches and 2 of those was against both finalists Argentina and France who totally outplayed them. So he had 2 goals in 5 matches in the last 2 tournaments where they played France twice, Argentina and Mexico in 4 of those games. So very tough opposition. Where he was completely starved of service and his team could barely make it out of their own half let alone create quality chances. And at the tournament before that in Euro 2020 he had 3 goals in 3 matches.

Most of the Polish players are angry with the coachβbecause he publicly claimed the decision was made together with the team. Everyone is frustrated that they got dragged into it. It was quickly clarified afterward that the decision came solely from the coach . The guy is keep saying it's better for the team if Lewy–,-best player in the history of Polish football proved by trophies he won .
Once again:There was no consultation with the team at all. The Polish Football Association (PZPN) officially confirmed it. Also, there is nobody even close in Poland as famous worldwide as Lewandowski. He is a hero for millions of kids.
