In this episode of It’s Called Soccer, Gary Neville and Rebecca Lowe take a deep dive into the current turmoil at Manchester United. With Eric Ten Hag under mounting pressure, they dissect the team’s performances, recent defeats, and the controversial VAR decisions, including the Bruno Fernandes red card. Is Ten Hag on borrowed time? The discussion reveals the issues within the dressing room and questions whether the club is headed in the right direction.
Special guest Robbie Keane joins to share his insights on Tottenham’s resurgence under Ange Postecoglou, reflecting on their tactical brilliance against United and offering a broader view on the Premier League title race, featuring Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City. Keane also discusses the impact of players like Dominic Solanke and dives into his journey in football management, providing a unique perspective on coaching and development.
The conversation doesn’t stop there—Cole Palmer’s rise to prominence is highlighted, debating whether he is indeed a generational talent after shining in recent fixtures. They explore if Manchester City made a mistake letting him go, and what his success means for the future of the league.

Gary “I’ve never seen that connection before” Neville
Really appreciate Christina Unkel on this, so interesting to hear a ref’s point of view!
Robbie Keane let his country down by taking a job for a colonising apartheid state
Salah scored 44 goals first season at Liverpool
Dalots purposely exposing the issue at Utd of the club not buying a left back
It's time for Big Sam to have an opportunity 😂
Gary mentioned its been a graveyard for Manchester united managers thats the key point . United cant keep sacking the manager its the manager's fault. These players need to take responsibility its gone on far too long tge managers lose there jobs coz of these over paid Prima Donna's . Even Pep would struggle with this team . The whole culture of the club needs to change
@12:59 that was definitely the worst Dalot has played at United. Even when they were getting crushed by Liverpool or City he was one of the few players that played well.
Seems to me a poison chalice.
I've thought this for a year, but I think there's something to it. I think there is a language issue between ten Hag and the players. I don't think he has been able to communicate his plan, his ideas, or his motivation to the players effectively. It's a guess, but Eriksen's comments make me think more and more there is something to it.
Doesn’t matter if he slipped or not, it’s high, reckless and out of control, Curtis jones was sent off for something similar, this is non issue, Gary and Christina trying to create a bias around United
As soon as I heard the ref was on, I'm out, sorry.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to fold the club and sell off the assets to redevelop Wigan town centre. And gifting Utd a "Wembley of the North" is like 'putting a silk hat on a pig'. City are the only EPL team worth watching in Manchester. I blame the fans. Their consistent, unwarranted support perpetuates the myth that Utd are a great club. If ETH goes, then Gareth Southgate should be put in to oversee the team during the wind-up process. The players can all be sold to Saudi over the next two windows with monies then being used to repair the bus shelter near the library in Oldham town centre. Possibly some clean toilets in Piccadilly Gardens could be commissioned too, should the Saudis start throwing stupid money around. I would recommend the transfer fees be used to build a statue for Sir Bobby, but it would barely cover the costs for the planning application.
Brits talking about british football on an American show? How is this supposed to translate to the US? How is it different to normal overlap at this point?😅 Just wondering, love the content.
Ten Hag to stay for at least 5 years. HE just needs more time 😊
These Utd fans are incredibly lucky that we are not talking about a game ending 0 – 6 to Spurs with the Son injury, and we had to start the headless chicken Werner.
Robbie Keane is my all time favorite footballer
That “hook” at the start about M&S made me turn this off, i.e. the opposite of the intent of a hook. Poor.
Gareth Southgate?!?!
how's u can describe from ole gunnar system bring in for a year's and now, they just started w/ a new rebuild system, particularly ineos and EtH one year implement a long term project, REMEMBER : how's far Mikel & Jurgen Up side Down, needed 4 years to really get a identity. it's hurt huh but it this what it this. part believing on procces not an easy way.
Its time for KEANO!
This is a beautiful podcast. Rebecca is a good communicator and Gary is a United legend and good waffler. Gonna be awesome
Joel Matip was doing CB runs before it was cool
Get keano on..
