Hamburg has retained its Bundesliga status. With away goals counting double in the event of a draw, after drawing 0:0 at home in the first leg of the relegation play-off, a one-all result in the second leg in Fürth was sufficient to ensure that Hamburg remain the only original member of the Bundesliga never to be relegated. Check-out the highlights of this decisive match.

  1. The relegation playoff is unfair, and this is coming from an HSV fan.
Furth should have been promoted, its not fair to keep a team who has has played well all season in the second division, and a team that was terrible all season keep it in the 1st!

  2. Feel bad for Fuerth. Would have been nice if they'd gotten a second chance in the 1. Liga. Still, well done, HSV. There's always next season, SpVgg. And hey, Paderborn won't be in the 2. Liga to steal your second-place finish in the last few games next season, right? Haha.

  3. Just scrap this play-off thing, no team from lower division win in both Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga play-off since it's re-inception and today Bielefeld is likely to win too.

  4. Congrats Hamburg! I'm really glad they stayed up, what an incredible record to have (staying in the league for 50+ years!)

  5. Can someone please explain the Bundesliga relegation play offs to me? im pretty sure that Fuerth were not in the bundesliga so is it like 3rd in 2. bundesliga vs 16th in bundesliga?

  6. I watched the game and Hamburg could have lost easily because some of Hamburgs players are so nonchalant, example when Tolgay Arslan got injured and walked of the field slowly and didn't give a fuck that his team could get relagated. Compare that to the feelings Diego Costa showed when he had to get off the field at Camp Nou

  7. words can't describe how furious i am. relegation playoff? talk about advantage to the bundesliga team. load of garbage that and the 20 point gap between first and second is why germans premium league isn't amongst spain and england for top class recognition.

  8. This may seem stupid but when it say away goals count as double does that mean every away goal is worth 2 goals or does it mean the away goal that is used in competitions such as the champions leauge
