The history of Leipzig:
When The first national football competition in Germany was introduced, Leipzig were the first winners (1903). They had the largest Stadium at the time (1922)After WW1, nothing was the same, not just for Leipzig but every team. Still, it knocked them off their pedestal. For the next period until WW2, they lingered around in the bottom half of the table, slowly improving and winning the German Cup in 1936. Then WW2 came and after the war, Vfb Leipzig got dismantled and separated into district teams by the politics of the DDR (east germany). Thats comparable to Bayern München splitting up FC Schwabing, Harlaching and Neuhausen. Multiple times the Leipzig clubs got remodelled, and the football system restructured. In this time they set up an attendence record with over 100.000 spectators, a record in germany until today. The integration of the eastern clubs into the Bundesliga after the reunification was hard, as the eastern clubs all lacked funds, facilities, organization etc. (Transition from communist to capitalist system). In 2004, VfB Leipzig ceased to exist. With RB Leipzig it seems that finally an east german team has settled in the Bundesliga.
I am not condoning the rise of Leipzig through a company that only cares about promoting themself, however I just wanted to point out that Leipzig as a footballing city do have a very long history
I miss fabian
Anyone else randomly get unsubscribed to just about all their YouTube channels in the last couple days?? (like 50 in total)
We played better than Bayern in 2001. Also Augustin is better than prime George Weah and Werner is better than Suarez.
