The Morning Footy crew discuss some of the greatest soccer scandals of all-time coming off what is happening in regard to Canada soccer and drone-gate. First, a look at referee corruption in Serie A which saw Juventus take the brunt of it despite several teams being involved. Next, the “Hand of God,” which saw Maradona use his hand to famously score a goal and ultimately win Argentina a World Cup. Next, a chat about Jürgen Klinsmann’s dive in the 1990 World Cup which lead to West Germany ultimately winning the trophy that year and started the “diving” that is now rampant in football today. Then, a discussion about “The Disgrace of Gijón,” where West Germany and Austria played to a specific result so that both could advance to the next round. And finally, El Maracanazo. It was an incident that happened during the football match between Brazil and Chile at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on 3 September 1989, in which Chilean goalkeeper Roberto Rojas pretended to be injured by a flare thrown by Brazilian fans. The incident is considered by historians and football experts as one of the most shameful events in world football.

South Korea Vs Spain , also against Italy at the World Cup 2002 . South Korea were cheating all the way including the game against Portugal.
Fifa really wanted them to go far it was plainly obvious
Barca Vs Chelsea in the champions league in 2009 . That was scandal
Barca Vs inter , the diving and play acting . Sergio with his Oscar winning performance. Got an inter player sent off
Marco m with his evil tactics got Zidane sent off
This is probably my favorite Morning Footy video now. Just taking in the storytelling of the whole crew demonstrating their journalistic skills and the funny rebuttals showing off their diverse personalities. Love that it was so educational too. Wish we got more of these segments on the show.
barcelona needs its own episode😂
The statement that Germany cheated against Argentina is comedy gold. Against Argentina 😂
Hand of Henry refers to the handball tiebreaker illegally scored by the French football player Thierry Henry during the second qualifier match for World Cup 2010 between France and Ireland on November 18th, 2009. As a result of the game, Ireland's national football team failed to qualify for the Round of 16 in the World Cup 2010. On November 20th, Henry finally broke his silence and spoke with a reporter about the incident, during which he acknowledged the foul: "Yes, there was hand, but I'm not the referee. 'Toto' (Sébastien Squillaci) was going for the front, I was behind two Irishmen, the ball ricocheted and hit my hand. Of course, I continued to play… The referee did not whistle 'hand' but I can't say there wasn't hand."
It’s not cheating it’s being savvy, tener colmillo
It was Rudi Völler not Klinsmann.
France is the biggest…… south of Gibraltar 😢
how about Thierry Henry hand against Ireland? and Byron Moreno referee at WC 2002 Italy-South Korea?
Juventus, once a cheater always a cheater…
Its been all time. Refs ruin every game.
Biggest is … Vardrid …and uefa president…. suck domestically mostly but get away in Europe with dubious calls…. offside goals bayern 👏 case in point
Soccer biggest mistake is naming itself soccer… fortunately, we only see this in some regions
Real madrid needs its own episode 😂
Man City’s 115 is on another level
Suarez and Maradona both cheated. Doesn’t matter if you do or don’t get caught or punished.
Hand of god wasn't a scandal nor was it cheating. It's smart and takes very high skills to score like that.
Biggest cheating scandals & they forgot to add Messi somehow "winning" the Balon d'Or over Haaland after Haaland won the treble & scored an insane amount of goals in a single szn… lol
