Nothing will ever compare to those years 1988-90 even if we win the World Cup at some future date. What a team. What a set up what a manager. Nothing will ever compare to it. We were just bad ass in those days and we kicked ass.
RIP our dear friend Big Jack Charlton. Did so much more for Ireland than football, he united the Republic and raised morale that was in bits after the dreary 1980s. A legend and hero of Ireland. I remember Italia 90 at only 3 or 4 and being kitted out in the Ireland jersey kicking out in the grass. Legend.
The FAI have a lot of work to do to bring the reputation and prominence of Irish soccer back up to the level it was in those days.
