Saw Shearer score a penalty against Forrest right in front of me in the 90s as a kid. He was my hero for sure. About 20 years later I was a uni student working at a Hotel in Newcastle and poured him some champagne into his glass during an event. Thankfully he didn’t realise I was star struck 😂
Greatest premier league striker so far. Yeh yeh, I know everyone is gonna say Henry, Aguero, Rooney etc but this guy did it for several clubs, numerous managers, often playing in a mediocre team. And I know, I get it, people will point to his all-round game not being as strong as other strikers but what's a striker there to do? And he did it better than anyone. Closest comparison would have to be Kane, numerous managers in an often mediocre team.

Born 1 mile from st james park and i am still there to this day. What amazes me is that even after big Al has been retired now for a long time everytime i hear that SHEARAAH it makes the hairs on the back of my neck tingle. What a player he was.
When people ask me who I think has been the worlds greatest footballer, I stop and ponder for just a moment. Being old enough to have seen Pele play numerous times, he was my childhood hero and the master craftsman of the great game. I had a Brazil shirt with his number 10 proudly on the back. Only taking it off under duress to have it washed. Wearing it even under my school uniform! Such fond memories of a true role model for footballers.
However, I'm a Geordie. There will never be another Alan Shearer. Some were faster, some likely more skilful but not many. Football matches are won by goals and Alan relentlessly honed his skill set for that purpose. Crowds flock in their tens of thousands to watch leading goal scorers. Thus far, he is the greatest footballer to have ever played the game. We should clone him.

Biggest Alan fan and toon fan started supporting them when shearer joined. But, just think. What could have been after all those goals. The Blackburn era he had was fantastic he was the best in the league easily. If not for injuries in 3 seasons really he’d have another 25-30 goals maybe. He was missing almost a full season at one point and then his last ever touch vs Sunderland. His goals in Europe. His goals for England! He wanted more you could see it. He was loyal until the end. Had he have gone elsewhere I don’t think he’d have quite as many but he’d have better strikes and a dozen medals instead of just one title. He doesn’t regret anything but he does wish. And I’m convinced Alan was thinking the same in the last few moments of this. That’s what hurt the most.
Shearer is a living legend. Trully striker.🎉

Alan Shearer still is my favorite British player of all times. I am a Juventus supporter, but always admired him, especially for when he rejected Man United and joined his boyhood club, Newcastle. And if it was not for 2 lengthy injuries, he would have passed 300 goals. Always gave 100 percent and always followed his heart. Fantastic player. A true legend.
