  1. When you look at how much Pep Guardiola has spent on transfers, it’s genuinely astonishing—especially considering the squads he inherited were already packed with top talent.
Even so, over the past decade alone, Pep has overseen around €2.1 billion in transfer spending since 2016.
That’s almost €1 billion more than the next highest spenders, like Diego Simeone and Antonio Conte, who are both at roughly €1.2 billion each.
That’s an enormous amount of money, completely eclipsing every other manager’s spending.

  2. This is such an incredible video now we understand why pep sold certain players it makes total sense now, Kevin de bruyne was a genius he let the ball do all the work. Thanks for sharing this video 🏆

  3. the key for this is that the ball has to be played properly, and that inability to deliver balls accurately under pressure is why many players don’t get time with Pep.

  4. Italy at the top of their game in the 2000s also avoided half-turns. The counters were extremely quick with passing up the field to players with better vision.

  5. I would've thought it was less a speed issue and more an eyes/situational awareness issue; if you're getting the ball on the half turn you're cognitively probably spending more capital on executing the receipt than you are keeping your head up and thinking "where am I distributing next," which I imagine makes managers like Pep very sad.

  6. Phil Foden is one of the few to use those half turns with the ball. Key here is being great on the ball in those tight spaces before making the next decision, big example of this being his 2023/24 season, where he ended up guiding Man City to the title and winning player of the season

  7. In a way one is slow, in a half-turn you rarely see the next pass or play. Against a good defensive structure, the progress made is often zero. You have to have elite scanning skills to be truly effective. Scanning is something everyone compliments the most about David Silva.

  8. Walker explaining what a through ball is to Gary Neville… 😂😂😂😂 “How to make this easy for you Gary… The Triangle Button pass on Fifa PS2. Ring any bells???”

  9. Saying I've watched football for years, this man was a coach, and he's saying amazing like he's never sat down to actually analyse a game how teams set up it's celebrations, and saying ohhh when a team he wants to lose actyscores and are winning the game.

  10. Man these football managers are so overrated. Half turning is an essential skill in football, you cant just let the ball run past you everytime as not every pass comes with the same intensity and you have a player behind you. I dont even know what he means to be honest. 😅 thats so stupid

  11. Bullshit

How you want to receive the ball depends on your surroundings

If defenders are tight, letting it run through makes sense

If they are further away but closing in, taking a touch and spinning off their trajectory makes sense too

Soundbites for podcasts and clips are where we are

Gary Neville was never this influential as a player.
