  1. Paul you are amazing person and as you say its an illness my brother was a compulsive gambler and drinker who died young if he had someone like you I'm sure he might have had a chance keep well bless you x

  2. Thank you for talking about this. You didn’t shy away from talking about it. Huge respect for Merse and everyone for talking so honestly about the way you feel. Laura was the perfect host to get these men to open up as much they did. Please watch this.

  3. Very late to this. Fell into addiction myself for 7 years and it is no joke, I honestly thought it was never going to end. On the straight and narrow myself and massive respect to Paul Merson 👍 if anyone who is struggling at the moment please believe it can get better no matter how dark it gets

  4. love everyone here, if we can talk openly, it detaches the stigma. I hate that people feel like they can't talk to people, myself included.. I have issues with trust because I think people don't care sometimes about your mental health problems, they are still stuck in the mould of "just get on with it, we all suffer problems blah blah blah" and that is so wrong. someone pouring their heart out and wearing their heart on their sleeve, doesn't need ridicule, they need reassurance. just my own personal experiences sometimes with regard to mental health. i think counsellors sometimes might have all the theory in the world behind why a person is feeling the way they do, but sometimes don't know how to approach it in the real world and deal with someones vulnerability in the correct manner. if you aren't patronised and instead treated like this is in fact a normal part of life and normalise feeling down and that we all can suffer problems, listened to and told this doesn't have to be permanent, then the world would be a much better place. thanks for sharing your feelings jamie, paul and clinton and kudos to laura too

  5. Amazing this video is up 22 months and for only 141 and half thousand people to have seen it is mad.
Never liked Paul Merson until a few days ago when I saw him in a BBC documentrie about his addiction problems.
Now I have nothing but respect for the man.

  6. Times are hard but the Government telling you what to think, say and do at the moment doesn't help. Forced Immigrantion, Covid, Stress, Addiction, No self esteem, lost identity. The Government need to put in as much effort as they do for BLM as they need to do for Suicide Awareness! Or maybe they want it! They just replace you with a Syrian.

  7. Thank u paul im a recovering alcoholic and it is an illness but since iv had therapy and counciling has helped so much iv been sober for 2 months everyday is a fight but im enjoying it pushin myself and winning

  8. Great to see all these guys talking about this topic. Used to see Mers as a joker and jester but he's looking great! Trim, compos mentis, lucid and really helpful!

Jamie O'Hara heard a lot about you when I was growing up in Essex, seems like you became a really mature dude too. Good on y'all.

  9. the thing i think Jamie O'Hara got wrong is the body language, some of the happiest people have the darkest demons. Don't just check on the mate with the slumped shoulders and the glum face, otherwise it can be too late, sometimes the people who smile the biggest are the ones who're really really struggling. However i'm happy these men are speaking about this awareness on such a public platform, hopefully the discussions continue and we can help those in need

  10. Bloody hell, top mate. Not once hut repeadately tells someone elses secret, just say he does great things for the fa its not your place to divulge the reason and tries tell me he knows mental health?

  11. 10 out of 10 for being rude to me that’s a real man not someone Who hides away just building up the pressure to explode on someone who doesn’t deserve it, thanks again for being real, to me, you was a star on the pitch but more important, a big star off it x

  12. Sorry Mers.I hate to have to tell you this but on your day it was poetry in motion and I am a died in the wool out of town Manchester United supporter since Busby Babes. Thanks for the memories.Take care and be lucky JP

  13. I found social media didnt help me I just compared my life to other . See wat my friend had girlfriend, children , cars , house etc. felt like I wasnt working hard enough or werent good enough . Still struggling to this day

  14. During Mersons time when he was a top player in a team that was winning a lot of trophies and the drinking culture was normal I can understand it but with O'Hara who has been pretty much a nobody in football full stop, let alone in a team winning trophies i find it difficult to see why he had drink problems, Darren Anderton played more games than this idiot

  15. Haha, sorry merse I know you got a sense oh humor. At least now we know why you were at arsenal! Lol….it’s not your fault fella. That would drive most of us mad or to drink. I can forgive ya and glad your back entertaining us again on the tele. Blooming gooner!
