Mexico is not even a good team. That's why they're not in the final of the Gold Cup. We're the best team in Concacaf even though soccer is not big here. It's Mexico's #1 sport and they suck at it.
Brazil was the only decent team at that '99 tournament. Which other team could have or should have won it? We were so bad at that time and were the worst team of the '98 World Cup, but we almost made it to the final of the '99 Confed Cup.
We made it to the quarter-final of the WC this century. You can't say the same thing about Mexico. They never make it past the round of 16. And we finished 3rd before at the WC and soccer is not even big here.

Look, the World Cup is the biggest tournament there is in this sport and has been around since 1930. Since I started watching Mexico has never even made it past the round of 16 of the World Cup. Good teams do not consistently go out before even reaching the quarter-final. So Mexico sucks. It's as simple as that.

And in case you are referring to that sorry Confed Cup in '99, world champions France even refused to participate that year and the Germans sent a reserve team. Many of the top teams are not even in the Confed Cup anyway because it's purely based on regions and not quality. If Mexico was that good at soccer then why do they never make it past the round of 16?
