Owen Hargreaves explains why centre defensive midfielders (CDMs) make the best coaches and managers due to their understanding of football and having to be involved in both attack and defense. Hargreaves mentions Carlo Ancelotti, Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola, and Xabi Alonso as examples. #shorts #football #soccer #algorithm #coaching #management

But Pirlo failed and doesn't seem like ending up as a decent coach
So Busquet could become one of the best coaches in the World?
Scaloni not mcd.
Crazy how the coach better than all of them was a CAM/CM 😂 (Zidane btw for you clowns without ball knowledge)
Ange Postecoglu played CB but in his first season had the best stats and merits in every attacking category despite finishing 5th
Ancelotti wasn’t a CDM. But also this is an example of correlation not causation. Keane, Matthaus, Ince, Vieira, Edgar Davids, Neeskens to name but a few were all incredible players but poor managers. Hargreaves is trying to seem like he has greater knowledge than he actually does. Talking nonsense.
Messi for me is the exception. His understanding of the game rivals that of pivots. Its a shame he doesn't wanna be a coach.
I think there’s something to be said personality wise for players that love a tackle and a battle in midfield, that’s the spirit of the game that’s gone down the toilet , they don’t always make the best coaches but their the life of the game and the game has kicked allot of these players out to be over cautious and protective of skillful players like messi who would risk leg breaks when they were in the game but you’ve got to have them or you don’t have a game
Which is also why football has become boring these days. No flair. No attack. Just sideways pass. Pass the ball into the net. 😴😴
Meanwhile Cruyff
ball bags
Owen Hargreaves was the 855th best ever CDM/CM!! Go away u lonely u was RUBBISH!
When is Ronald Koeman entering the chat?
Cholo Simone, more like at box to box 8. But was a 6 later in his career
and you got bayern with vincent kompany😭
It’s not just the position but rather I think one thing that plays a big part is how many different “coaches” the player has been coached by. Different philosophies help a lot.
Dm is my favourite position in football
😂😂😂 this is a load of bull Mourinho never even played football he was one of the best coaches out there doesn’t matter we’re you played a good coach is a good coach
Why hasn't Hargreaves gone into coaching then? Decent player, worse peoffesional
Us midfielders see the pitch differently
Meanwhile Mourinho who never played football 😎
Bro said arteta with chest 💀💀💀
Nah. Sir Alex was a forward. Cruyff was a forward. Mourinho never played. It's not about which position you played. You don't even have to play the game to understand it at a very high level.
As a Juve fan, I hope Thiago Motta will also follow this pattern of great cdm coaches.
And its the position england as a nation don’t produce
That position is about heart ,leadership, strength
I think he has a point, but more that Central Midfielders in general make better managers (in general)
If that’s the case then Steven gerrard and frank lampard will be winners. Look at their success so far
Roy Keane? God like player sure… Manager?
Thiago Motta and Fabregas
Muller might be an exception to that though
When are they gonna stop putting this annoying song in the background, Jesus wept!
Makes sense why I’m always telling my teammates what to do
Wasn’t Gareth Southgate also a CDM back in his playing days? Just asking…
The holding midfielder is the answer
Explain klopp so
What like alex Ferguson who was a striker? Johan cryuff who was a winger, clough who was a striker saachi and mouriniho was not even professionals. Pack it in son
And then there is Mourinho 😅
He's not wrong.
That rodri goal is just silly.
