Netherlands and Ecuador go head-to-head in a crucial Group A matchup. The first half had an electric start as Cody Gakpo beams one in at the top of the box, scoring in the 6th minute. Pressure was divided equally on the field with both Ecuador and the Netherlands having numerous chances on goal. Ecuador almost tied things up when Pervis Estupiñan scored in stoppage time in the first half, but the goal was overturned by offside decision. Enner Valencia scored in the 49th minute, marking his third of the tournament. Both teams went back-and-forth but weren’t able to score and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
