Monchengladbach dominated Shakhtar from start to finish on Matchday 4 as the German side won 4-0. They started the scoring in the 17’ with a penalty goal from Lars Stindl and from there the floodgates opened in the first half. Another goal was scored in the 34’ by Nico Elvedi and in the 45’+1 by Breel Embolo.
Monchengladback would sit on the 3-0 lead for the majority of the second half, but in the 77’ Oscar Wendt was able to power it into the back of the net for an insurance goal. Shakhtar couldn’t do anything offensively and Monchengladback stifled any attempt Shakhtar may have had. The German side coasted to a decisive 4-0 win in Group B action
